I don’t usually share many personal stories on social media because I like to be cryptic and save those details for my poetry instead but this time I feel really called to share with whoever feels like taking the time to read.

I had known and admired @silvanaestradab ‘s career for a few years but her last album “Vendrán suaves lluvias” found me when I needed it the most.
Like soulmates who look at each other for the first time, it was love at first sight.

I was grieving so many things at once: the woman whom at the time I thought I’d marry, the child whom I deeply love and was helping raise, leaving a home that had been my safe space for a few years, the people who lived in it and the dynamics we had…the list goes on. On top of that my housing situation was very unstable so I was couch surfing for a few months while being utterly scared of what might happen to me, bombarded with news about ICE brutality and people like me being killed, disappearing and families torn apart. Nothing seemed to make sense but one thing: music. Every day I’d put on my headphones and play “Vendrán suaves lluvias” wearing it almost like an armor to help me face the day. Food was hard to eat and sleep even harder to achieve as nightmares would constantly wake me up but the album like a lullaby just kept playing, keeping me company. @silvanaestradab ‘s voice became so familiar to me.

I cried on the bus, in the shower, at work, my friends arms, all the posible places tbh it was kind of embarrassing.
Around March I decided to drive to the Oregon coast, as being by the Ocean makes me feel seen, understood. The whole way there I played what at this point had become my emotional support album and when “Un rayo de Luz” started playing my eyes just became an infinite source of water, the tears just wouldn’t stop not for one second, and I let myself cry. This song specifically is about death and grief its beauty and the incredible pain it brings. Tachi, Wilson, Sol three wonderful souls that I had the pleasure to meet in this life but who left this earth came to my mind. Two of them too early, as their life’s were taken by the hands of people with hatred in their hearts. (Pt. 2➡️)

June was a month filled with gratitude.

Memories were made in the company of beautiful people and yes my phone storage is full again!

Summer has just started and I am here for it.
