What podcast platform, promoter, or local A&R is actually putting our local artists in position to get major opportunities?
I’m talking about getting them in front of real A&Rs, label executives, managers, publishers, booking agents, and people who can actually help take their careers to the next level.
Because let’s be honest — anybody can get distribution. You can upload your music through DistroKid, UnitedMasters, or plenty of other platforms.
But what happens after the music gets uploaded?
If an artist pays to be on a platform, gets a million views, goes viral, or generates attention, shouldn’t that platform also be helping create real opportunities from that momentum?
I’m not saying podcasts, promoters, or platforms shouldn’t make money. Get your bag. 💰
I’m just challenging everybody involved to ask:
Are we building artists, or are we just monetizing artists?
What if every local podcast had relationships with a few industry executives?
What if promoters actually created showcases where legitimate A&Rs were invited?
What if local A&Rs helped artists develop instead of just telling them what they need to pay for?
Imagine if the goal wasn’t just “How much can we make off this artist?”
…but also:
“How can we help this artist win?”
That could change the whole culture.
This isn’t hate. It’s a conversation. 🤝🏾
I want to see our artists win. I want to see our city win. I want to see people get signed, booked, published, managed, and placed in rooms they couldn’t get into by themselves.
Let’s build the culture, not bankrupt it.
What y’all think? 👀🎙️
Let’s debate respectfully. by @milas88
