It’s been almost a year to the day since I’ve posted last. There’s been so many changes this year I don’t know where to begin. I left an abusive relationship, and am starting over from scratch. I’m in the process of buying a house, and working on building a better future for me and my daughters.

Expect some great things in the future!

Syracuse Fashion Week Spring 2025 challenged me in ways I wasn’t expecting. It left me inspired, humbled, grateful and beyond blessed.

Inspired: This year I chose one model, one look, and arguably the most difficult fabric on the market to design with: vinyl. I learned to draft my own patterns from my own mind, work with and manipulate vinyl to achieve a desired look, and add structure to my garments.

Humbled: this past week the phrase “you think you can do these things, and you just can’t,” danced through my head on repeat. I learned that I still have a lot to learn, but a little tenacity can take you a long way. Just can’t? No. I can, and I will. And I will keep doing things I think I can’t, keep pushing boundaries and continue to learn every moment I can.

Grateful: Where do I even begin? @johnsoka , you took a chance on me by asking me to design with you and your unwavering support has brought me to heights I didn’t even know I could reach. No matter how ridiculous, over ambitious, or outlandish my ideas are, you always remind me I can do anything I put my mind to. @camille_millar , thank you for trusting me. @amzahn98 and my dear friend Marta Irene; thank you for the late night consults, the guidance, assistance and encouragement. Your helpfulness reminded me that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.

And of course Lisa and @syrfashionweek for giving me a platform to spread my wings and grow. This incredible community is made up of talented designers, MUAs, models, and production crews that inspire me to push harder and reach higher. A massive THANK YOU to the incredible team at @elitegaming_gg for hosting this event at their outstanding venue!

May the odds (and the force) be ever in your favor.

Finally finished this mockup, super excited to start working on the final piece. Figuring out the perfect fabric for the underdress and then off we go!

Total mockup time (including pattern drafting) 40 hours

Remembering to take pictures so I can post for you all is the hardest part about sewing for me.

But! I was able to draft this pattern from a picture of a video game character! Which is a huge accomplishment for me. Today I’ll be making a mockup to see if it will hold the shape I’m looking for!
