What a ride. Sometimes we all weren’t on the same page, sometimes we felt we were doing too much, and sometimes we argued over minutiae. But every time, our team got a little closer.Closer to each other and closer to realizing our vision. Every few meetings or so, after hours of deliberating over the details of planning, one of us would pop up and say “This is going to be amazing.”Spoken with the energy as if we had experienced the whole summit in a dream, we would all light up and feel all the good emotions we were expecting to feel. But we could’ve never predicted what it would feel like when everyone else was in the room with us. What it would feel like when Bacardi gave that comet of a speech. What it would feel like learning from all the brilliant alumni and faculty speakers. What it would feel like partying and connecting with students in Ujamaa, the Black House and White Plaza. What it would feel like sitting for three hours, walking ten thousand steps, sharing forty hugs, changing twice, and dancing our assess off for sixteen songs straight all on the same Saturday. This 2026 Stanford Black Alumni Summit was beyond amazing and our team represented what this Summit was all about. I’m grateful we get to share this memory together. Love, Miles by @miles.menafee
