🇺🇸 Happy Birthday America! 🇺🇸

I’m so proud that our People have somehow managed to stick together through thick and thin to hold on to our Constitution, our Democracy, and our ever evolving Republic for 250 very dramatic and turbulent years.

Whenever you feel worried about our Nation, just remember we made it through the dark and painful journey of Revolution, the nightmarish horrors of Slavery and Indian Removals, the bloody Civil War, Reconstruction upheavals, violent Social and Political Upheavals, mass Immigration and Migration, greedy Robber Barons, major economic Depressions, cruel Child Labor, dangerous and bloody Foreign Wars, Cold Wars, scandalous McCarthyism, cruel Segregation, many Political Assassinations, foreign Terrorism, domestic Terrorism, power obsessed Presidents, foolish Supreme Courts, perennially stupid politicians, and even the storming our very own Nation’s Capitol!

Somehow our People have refused to abandon the dream, even during our roughest days! So stay brave, always speak out against cruelty, tyrants, and NEVER ever give up the fight for your liberty, justice, and the pursuit of happiness for…

Every now and then, a home leaves a lasting impression — and this one on Saturday Road is one I always stop to admire.

I sold it years ago, and it remains one of my favorite exteriors in all of I’On. With its timeless Lowcountry architecture, gorgeous shutters, and charming carriage house, it perfectly captures everything that makes this neighborhood so special. by @miles.whitfield

I’m so sad to hear about the passing of my former boss and mentor Architect Bob Stern. Though I had a short internship with his firm, I really enjoyed my formative time with Bob. At that time in the late 80’s, I was his only employee from the Deep South, and Bob loved to tease me about my accent... he even called me his “Georgia Peach.”

I can’t help but laugh at all the crazy culture clash experiences I had, one day I sat in on a meeting with everyone barking orders at me to “do this, get that, call them” when I barked back at the room “I’m fixing to!” The room froze, but Bob started laughing.” After the meeting, one native New Yorker came over to my little desk and said “look kid if you’re going to live in New York, you can’t use the word fixin’!”😂 by @miles.whitfield
