POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

When @ellaronen first shared she was embarking on recording her next album I was excited and intrigued to learn more about the depths she was immersed in exploring. We met this summer in Greece at the same songwriter residency and retreat. I remember hearing Ella sing I was enchanted by the delicate strength of her voice, lyrics, and music woven through her encapsulating performance. When we left the small island of Patmos we agreed we had to stay in touch and collaborate in some fashion. Fast forward to a coupla weeks ago in London when I met up with Ella and a few other Patmos pals and she reminded us of her upcoming session in the Hudson valley. So this week @stephco_media and I headed up on the toll-less route for prime leaf peepin’ and met @francescahoffmanmusic and Ella for dinner at @upstatetacony outside Kingston to catch up on all the work and music Ella and her wizard producer and brilliant Soundworld builder, Sam Cohen @samcohenmanimal had been up to. The next morning we got to work. Steph and I shared coffees with Ella and Sam and started the morning listening to the album and understanding where our voices fit in the fertile ground of this already vibrant and rich canvas. We then began laying down harmonies and doublings for hours. Frankie(Fanscesca) joined in and we got some gang vocals in before ending the night with more tacos. The next morning we woke up and spent another few hours blending with the lush and powerful landscape of Ella’s album. What a gift of an opportunity to sing on so many varied songs and levels of Ella’s journey through healing and unfolding.

It’s not my place to share the music(yet), but what I can say is we are all in for another powerful, honest, at times raw, and gorgeously groove rich album from the uniquely talented Ella alongside the luminous and intuitive producer Sam Cohen. Honored to be alongside loads of other great musicians and I can’t wait to listen #ellaronen #newmusic #indiemusic #recordingsession #recording taken in Hudson Valley, NY by @milesorion

Beautiful day in service of The Crossroads Women's Center in our beloved Germantown neighborhood! If you haven't heard, this incredible community resource recently felt the devastation of fire at there headquarters and they need our support by way of funding and volunteers. Karen Smith and Stephanie Renée hosted a beautiful gathering on 10/17/26 sponsored by Historic Johnson House with an afternoon of music, spoken word, tours and raffles to help aid CWC to lead the charge!

If you missed the festivities, you can still donate any time online via Network for Good: https://donate.forgood.org/donation/23-2979717
Thank you for supporting this gem of a place!

Played my first ever show in London, England with @stephco_media !! Much love and appreciation to Bilge aka @tendertwin for opening up her apartment for such a beautiful night of music and enchantment with a stunner of a set by @maybeimariver

That’s how the trip ended, the week prior Steph and I connected with Patmos pals in London to further connect, adventure, and explore with. What a rad city!! So much art(public and museums), live music, insanely delicious food, parks, and loved to meet so many people from so many places. It was a gift and delight to reconnect with @shenandoahdavis (and Luke!) @ellaronen @hlevin77 and @francescahoffmanmusic

I got to visit and see the life of my badass sister @mrzemel in Brighton and share meals with my sisters husbands family and hang with which was really nice and heart blooming

More to share but that’s all for now 💖 taken in London, England by @milesorion

My new collection of (mostly) instrumental sketches is now streaming across all platforms!!!

It’s ideal for leaf peeping, slow mornings, nature walks, contemplative coffee or tea sips, breath work, and other tasks fit for rich acoustic guitar music.

The first track is from a Pete Seeger tribute show my moms and I organized a few years ago. It’s a group sing of his song To My Old Brown Earth

The rest are collections of phone recordings from the last few years.

First pic is by @messina_martinez the rest are of autumnal walks over the years 🍂🍁

More stories and more sharing soon

HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS to the brilliant and immensely talented and deeply inspirational, Ursula Rucker!!! @urucker may your day be filled with magic, blessings, LOVE, joy, and art of all kinds!!!

Nearly ten years of friendship, collaboration, inspiration, and real hard heart work. From our first day meeting working together on a music/poetry workshop in a prison, to our open mic workshops in Kensington to the countless live performances, workshops, and gigs we’ve rocked, I’m grateful and honored and have learned so much being your friend/fam 💖

Big love sis!!!

Some demos Ima release later this fall sprinkled in some pics of the last coupla weeks. Proof of Life. Keep breathing life into the spaces you’re afraid of within yourself. Keep shining light through grace for yourself and others. The world is a tetottering place and there’s a lot to be focused on and mindful of how we engage with these systems of extraction of our time and energy and livelihood. Together there is a way beyond mindless engagement and willful consumption. Gratitude is the attitude I wanna feed. And still spinning out on the pain and tragedy of death and violence of the innocent. Shout out to 3Cs for the awesome opportunity to rock catering with you. Much love 💗

Low hanging fruit for heartful connection:

Check on your loved ones and neighbors
Sing
Fill your local community fridge / pantry
Ask your barista how their day is going
Go see live music/art/performances
Volunteer once a month(quarter? 6 months? year?)
Smile at your reflection and remember why you’re so wonderfully You. When the negatives thought bubble up… pop them like bubble wrap, thanking them as they release from your body and heart and mind, for now, knowing you’ll be more prepared next time to greet their poisonous tendrils while you hold the knowledge of this dangerously spun social game telling us we’re all not enough. You, Stars Lights, are enough
