Belleville Althoff Catholic XC. From left to right, meet Mackenzie, Evelyn, Faith, Claire, Breigh, Bethany, and Grace. Not pictured is Ava. The Crusaders are the 2026 Gateway Metro Conference champions. October 10. They finished this race with 3 SBs and a PB. I asked this group, after the race, what have been the fun things about this XC season. They said things like “cheering for people”, “a family vibe”, “a team aspect”, “talking and laughing and enjoying each others company”, and “(they) push each other.” Check out where the Crusaders are ranked by @milesplitil and the @metro_east_sports_podcast. by @milesplitil

Season Recap!!

Romans 8:18 - "I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us."

Eureka Dual - 15:12, 1st place, just a workout meet to shake off the rust and get going. This course is also way short, probably around 2.8 miles.

Normal West Invite - 15:32, 2nd place, not the best race, but a good season opener. Was pretty much just coming off a break because of injury so this one was rough.

First to the Finish - 14:56, 5th place, great first meet at Detweiler. Earliest in the season I have ever broken 15:00 and it felt great! The fitness was there at this point, my execution and strategy were just not the greatest, still a good meet overall though.

Pre-Conference - 16:40, 1st place, another workout meet, very hot and humid.

Dunlap Invite -15:12, 1st place, good race. Stayed very controlled the entire time and ran a good time without having to push very hard.

Running Red - 14:22, 2nd place, it's all coming together. Took almost 20 seconds off my course best. Had a great 3 weeks of training and everything is starting to click. Led the race for about 1.8 miles and just couldn't quite hold on long enough to kick back into first. Still an amazing time and place though.

Successful regular season, time for conference and post-season now!! by @milesplitil

From team huddles in the afternoon to racing under the lights at night.

There’s something special about cross-country meets like these. Different schools, different teams, and hundreds of runners all sharing the same course.

The coaches, the teammates, the cheering from the sidelines, and the moments that make you remember why you love this sport.

These are the days that make cross-country what it is.

Run Fast. Tell Stories. Ándale.
