Oh to be a lizard sitting on a sun baked rock. Male Zebra-Tailed Lizard I spotted on the Tin Mine Trail in El Paso, Texas, back in 2015. Still my favorite photo that I have taken. I was laying on my stomach on the rocky trail about 15 feet away. I would wallow in the dust and dirt a thousand times over to experience this again. One of the best days of my life for many reasons. Rest in Peace, Tony Evans. My cousin who helped me to see a world that was always in front of me waiting to be seen. taken in Tin Mines Trail, El Paso,Tx by @miller_lite7777

And everything is finite”

“Out for my own, out to be free
One with my mind, they just can’t see
No need to hear things that they say
Life is for my own to live my own way

See them try to bring the hammer down
No damn chains can hold me to the ground”

The Cortado🇪🇸, AKA my will to live in a tiny cup. Who knew such a small drink could bring so much joy? In this pic, I was drinking one in the region it originated from and never knew it till I got home. I had been drinking them almost daily for 5 years when I inadvertently traveled to their birthplace, but I didn’t learn the backstory until a few months after coming home. I would just call it Spain’s gift to the world, but the name comes from the verb Cortar - to cut. It originated with the Basque fishermen on the northern coast wanting a strong but smooth drink to get the day going. You use 50/50 or 75/25 espresso and steamed (not frothy) milk, hence the name, because you are cutting the bitterness of the espresso with milk. 10/10 would recommend, but just a warning, the ones in España are much stronger than here cause they usually use the 75/25 ratio . What I would NOT recommend is drinking 3 of them in 8 hours and then getting on a 10+ hour flight. Nothing like a panic attack at 35,000 feet😅. taken in El Cazurro Bar Restaurante by @miller_lite7777

“Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.” -Mark Twain
According to Twain, I am living the life and I would have to agree. Sometimes I just have to remember that.

“Asturias is España, and the rest is land to be conquered.“

“Asturias es españa y lo demas tierra por conquistar.”

I heard this phrase from several locals in the Asturias Region of Spain the last few days I’ve been in the mountains en el Norte. It’s in reference to to the fact that Asturias was the only Visigoth/Christian Kingdom on the Iberian Peninsula to not be conquered by the Moors during the westward spread of the Umayyad Caliphate (or any of the caliphates that came after). This photo is of the statue of Pelayo, the Visigoth king who started the Reconquista with the battle of Covadonga in 722.
The Asturians are a people with great pride in their history but also of great kindness. They are some of the most friendly and generous people I have had the chance to meet in this big world. It doesn’t hurt that the countryside and mountains are unbelievably beautiful as well! Definitely recommend a visit to this region and to all of Spain in general. I will be back.
