Huge thanks to everyone still waiting on your order. I know the delay’s been frustrating, and I’m working every day to fix the bottlenecks.

The design and engineering I’ve got down. That’s where I shine. Manufacturing and ops? Working on it. Getting better every day.

Got the opportunity to install the @miller_spec Mav R shifter and this will never not be in my race car!!

The added shift response time and ease of shifting is so awesome and it just looks like I’m driving a gosh darn rally car!!

Go get one if you have a @canamoffroad Maverick R you will not be disappointed!!

I've been getting requests for Maverick R steering wheel setups lately, so I whipped up a model.

This would be "plug n play" and retain all the OEM functionality. Any extra buttons or encoders can be used for almost any purpose: push to talk, siren, drink pumps, changing stock or aftermarket dash display pages, etc.

The status light would be used as a shift light mainly, but can serve any purpose.

The display idea was mainly to show drive modes and gear indication but again, it can show other values (inspired by other forms of motorsport).

Though I designed it for the Mav-R, this can also be used universally.

The heart of the Maverick R Sequential Shifter. I ended up adding an upgraded option called the "Pro" model and with that comes a couple of new features.

The stock paddle shift system in the Maverick R has a delay between the time you pull the paddle and the transmission actually shifting into the next gear up or down.

The pro model uses an angle sensor to determine the position of the shifter arm. On top of that, instead of using limit switches to send the signal to shift up or down; the Pro Model takes full control of these signals. This allows the processor to command a gear change before you're even a couple degrees into your shift, reducing the delay felt and giving a more instantaneous and connected feel to the transmission.

This solution I came up with is basically like a "shift cut" gear knob. Unlike a shift lever directly connected to a transmission, I have access to the fulcrum point, which allowed me to put essentially a throttle position sensor on the shaft that the arm rotates on. Though the sensor I used is contactless, so it can't wear out.

Thanks to those who are open to new ideas and jumped on board, helped with testing, or are eagerly waiting to install one. Let's keep innovating 🤘🏽.

After lots of testing and R&D we're getting ready to make our Maverick R Sequential shifters available for purchase! This is close to the end product minus a few minor aesthetic changes we're making. Let us know what you think 🤔

Sequential DCT Shifter for Can-Am Maverick R

Key Features:

Rally-Style Sequential Shifting: Switch to manual mode for a sequential transmission experience, enabling rapid and precise gear changes that put you in full control.

Drive Select Lever: The drive select lever (front of shift arm), when pressed and paired with an up or down shift, allows you to put the car into reverse or drive just like the OEM drive selector.

Retains Factory Override Function: Enhanced driving experience without losing any original features. The shifter also retains the factory override function, allowing you to remove the RPM limiter in reverse.

Durable Nylon Construction: Made from high-strength carbon fiber-infused nylon, built to withstand the rigors of off-road driving.

Plug-and-Play Installation: Designed for ease of use, our shifter is fully plug-and-play, coming with all the necessary wiring for a straightforward installation process.

*From the factory the Maverick R (depending on various factors) may delay down shifting from 2nd to 1st gear for a short time when commanded. This is not a malfunction with our shifter. The same occurs with the OEM paddle shifters* by @miller_spec

These days, using PDM's combined with CAN bus you basically wire vehicles in software.

Meaning the way the car functions is no longer dictated by the way it's wired, but by how you program it (PDM's, ECU's, etc).

but in my experience, sometimes the software can't do what you want/ need, so you have to come up with a creative solution using the options that are built into the software.

This is the reason things like M1 Build exist.

I'm curious how many of you would be interested in a "unlocked" Power Distribution Module?

The modular PDM I'm working on (prototypes currently in the field) is based on an open source processor that has lots of documentation and support online. I also plan to offer code snippets, examples, and training in some way. I would likely release the product in this way as I develop windows software. Once completed, both options would be available.

I know most people wouldn't even attempt this, but I believe the calibration experts would like this option. I know I wished this was a thing on previous projects.

This is only one of many benefits that this product will offer. I will explain more once I'm closer to completion.

Let me know what you think?...

** Side note for those that made it this far **

The code snippets are quick and dirty examples.

The first is a sort of soft start for high current inductive loads (ex. Cooling fans).

The second is how CAN messages are sent to the blink marine keypads for the LED colors. by @miller_spec

In attempt to minimize the noise from these injectors that draw up to 20A I've shielded things that i normally dont.. 7 total shielded cables. Sensors, Solenoids, etc.

For example the OE manufacturer shields the fuel pressure sensor. Had to think for a second why.. because normally that sensor would not require shielding. But if you search; the fuel pressure can be in the range of 3500-26000 psi 😶 Well we've only got 5 volts to work with.. so litterally every couple millivolts could equal 10-12psi (with my assumption being that the motec m142 has atleast 12bit resolution on analog inputs).

According to my calculations 🤓

If noise interferes it could have a dramatic effect on the reading...
