Today is four years🙁🙁🙁
I know four years might seem like a weird number to post about, but there’s a lot of significance behind it.
My whole childhood was filled with custody battles, and I was constantly going back and forth between my family. One weekend, when I was around 11, my Meme took me to my mom’s house, but when we got there, she had gone away for the weekend. I didn’t know where she went, and she didn’t tell me. For some reason, that hurt me so bad that I decided to cut off all communication with her.
She sent me letters and texted me all the time, but I never responded. I told myself that when I turned 16, I would finally be ready to talk to her again. But I never got the chance.
For almost four years, I ignored her, and now, for four years, she has been gone. That makes it eight years without speaking to my mom.
It’s hard not to blame myself or wonder if my actions played a part, even though I know I’ll never really have all the answers. It’s always so hard to be optimistic about the situation not knowing where she truly is. I just wish I could go back and set my pride aside. More than anything, I hope she knew how much I loved her. Because I did. I loved her more than anything.
She was the coolest person in the world to me. I was completely fascinated by her, and in so many ways, I still am. I would give anything to go back and tell her all of that. She meant so much more to me than I ever let on.

I’m so jealous of my friends who have relationships with their moms, and get to talk about it. I always feel so left out, and it was all so avoidable. I take what happened as a sign from God to be less stubborn, and more forgiving. I try and choose to have gratitude that I knew someone as remarkable as her.
