The countdown is on... 5 more days! by @milwaukee_2020

Early last month, we put out a call for nominations in search of volunteers who are stepping up to #MKEanImpact when and where it's needed most. ⁣

Here are a few of the ways Milwaukeeans have given back and showcased the selfless and resilient spirit of our city:⁣
⁣
[1] Erick Ledesma and several friends created a drive-up food bank and delivery service to support those in-need on Milwaukee's South Side. They’ve also been translating critical health information into Spanish to provide community members with the facts they need to stay healthy. ⁣
⁣
[2] Jean Davidson is offering a free learning module that helps families home-school the Yell and Tell safety program, which teaches young children what they should do when they find themselves in a dangerous situation. ⁣
⁣
[3] After suspending its carryout and delivery services, @tandemmke, a Milwaukee favorite located in the Lindsay Heights neighborhood, has been giving away free meals to the community—donating upwards of 350 meals a day. by @milwaukee_2020

A great place on a Great Lake. ⁣
⁣
Did you know that #EarthDay has its roots right here in Wisconsin? It was founded 50 years ago by former Wisconsin Senator and Governor Gaylord Nelson! ⁣
⁣
Happy #EarthDay, Milwaukee!⁣

Milwaukee is one of only two cities in the country that has celebrated the incredible legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. annually since 1984.⁣
