This little Tasmanian devil is joining me on the @thestandardlondon rooftop tomorrow evening for another sunset shuffffle! 🤝🌪️😈👯💞🌇‼️🫂✨

Ed’s always had excellent taste and introduced me all kinds of deep cuts from soul to hip hop to bossa nova but it’s been a joy watching him dive head first into djing and setting up his own party with co-pilot @charliecorvair over the last couple of years. They’ve come so far already and show no signs of slowing down.. ⛷️💨 Give @frogw0rk a follow for those warm bouncey sultry housey numbers you can get lost in and a good old fashioned froggy time!

The vibes were pretty impeccable last time I was summoned to the roof so slide in the DMs if u wna jump on the gezzy! 🐸🛝💖

Margate Radio is 6!🎈 Next Saturday we’re back at Cliftonville Community Centre with Jah B’s Margatone Hi Fi (after the abundant joy of last year’s celebration!!) for another sound system party for the whole town 🪩🦭

Join us to bring in one more year around the sun for our community radio station — only made possible by the energy, commitment, creativity and sheer love for the thing offered up by the people of Margate 🫂🌞🌷

We’ve got Jah B, Tim Garrett & Shirley Ottou (@areyoublase), @sophie_stirling_, Rob Stereo MC's (@robbirchofficial) on the ones and twosss making sure the vibes are right 🔊👯🎶💫

The ever-wonderful @the_perfect_place_to_grow_cic will be supplying chickpea masala (so come hungry!) 🥣❣️ @bigshotdiner will be handling the drinks with beer courtesy of @flocbrewing and a special rum punch from @kromanti_rum (so come thirsty!)🧃🫡 ***free beer for the first 20 beans through the door!! 🍻⏰✅***

So ready for Off Season 2026 🥹🥹🤩🤩🥰😍😍😍😭 I've been looking forward to this weekend and chewing people's ears off about it for the last 363 days after the most bonkers inspiring energising inaugural edition last year.

Off Season 2025 was a fucking triumph <see above> 🪺🌪️❤️‍🔥💫🍒🪄🌀🕯️❣️🌟 🏹💌🤝 70 self-organised exhibitions in arcades, garden centres, people’s homes, restaurants, shop windows, galleries; immersive shows, shows that traveled, performances and work across all mediums. A completely DIY, totally free, pop-up arts festival made by the artists of Margate. And this year that figure has over doubled...

So lush to be out in the town this week and see everyone installing and talking about what's on their must see list.. Elsewhere folk, if you've got even one day free this weekend I implore you to jump on a train/car/boat/seagull to our little nubbin and fill your day with a load of wonderful things you didn't know you needed, cos as of today we go again! offseasonmargate.co.uk for the map and all the deets 🫟🗺️🔫

We’ve been cooking up something special ❣️❗@margateradio is back for another Turner Lates as part of @offseasonmargate 2026 this Friday! Very happy to be co-curating this once again with @paulcamo and bringing it to life alongside 'Bridget Riley: Learning To See' with @turnercontemporary & the team.➡️ to behold the wonders in store!

➰SPEAKERS CORNER QUARTET➰
Active deep in the fabric of South London’s live music scene for two decades, the collective brainchild of seasoned improvisors @kwake.bass @allsoundismusic @peterbenniebass & @bold____art has become one of the most important ensembles of recent years. In 2023 they gathered a cohort of friends & collaborators (Sampha, Kae Tempest, Kelsey Lu, Tirzah, Shabaka Hutchings, Mica Levi, James Massiah..) for their acclaimed debut album ‘Further Out Than The Edge’.

Seeing them perform this record at the Roundhouse the same year felt like witnessing history in the making. Kae made all our hearts stop with the potent ‘Geronimo Blues’, a moment which has stayed with me ever since. Their latest release offered what was the track of 2024 for so many of us — a stirring yet profoundly calm cover of Arthur Russell classic ‘This Is How We Walk On The Moon’.

They make their Margate debut with a new work that blurs the boundaries between human and machine, liveness and mediation. Biscuit (flute), Raven (violin) & Peter (bass) perform live, while drummer Kwake completes the quartet remotely from a concurrent show at @cafeotodalston, controlling the robotic percussion system ‘Drum Bot’ in real time, raising questions of virtual identity, authorship and connection in the age of AI.

Experimental sound artist and founder of our beloved @crabmuseum @chasefoleys sent us an email a year ago enclosing an intriguing video, photos & an audio recording. It was immediately transporting. Steeped in atmosphere, richness in every note. Pure sound and feeling. The fruits of his instrument-making practice — an acoustic long-stringed instrument, inspired by Ellen Fullman's, integrated with a piano. Incredibly excited to have Chase performing in the Drawing Studio where you are invited to draw sound.〰️

Jerry & Raggamuffin will play B3B with Goya after the show and they surely will bring the party vibes to Margate 💥

🎶 Jerry @milz_____ spins a playful blend of RnB, boogie, reggaeton, street soul, hip hop, rare grooves, dub, club and sweatier rhythms. She’s played some of London’s most respected club spaces and audiophile venues alike, as well as festivals Glastonbury, Brainchild, Gala and Lemon Land.

After starting her music career as a studio producer in the very early days of NTS, Jerry has gone on to become a long-standing team member and resident of South London record label and dance Rhythm Section, alongside working in the core team of Brainchild Festival and a stint with Orii Jam.

Jerry started her Margate Radio residency in Summer 2024, but has been a regular on the airways for some time.

🎶 Raggamuffin aka Rudi, @rudimd using his background in the art world (having done time at Tate Modern, KW Berlin & Glasgow School of Art, and being a founding director of New Curators), Rudi heads up curation at SE15’s hottest hi-fi bar, restaurant & cultural space @jumbipeckham, celebrating the sounds & flavours of the afro-caribbean diaspora.

In two short years it’s become the only place to be in Peckham on a Friday night, in no small part due to Rudi’s curation of the artists, selectors & collectives that pass through the doors, hosting everything from poetry nights to panel discussion, installations and exhibitions, fundraisers to cook outs, live shows, jam nights and of course, everyone’s favourite front room style shubz.

‘Brexciya’ is open! I’m endlessly proud and in awe of @rudimd for so many reasons, but this weekend it was for curating and sharing with the world his first show in Margate @quenchgallery with beautiful, tender, playful works from @black__obiwan, @athenkardashian, @ninamhachdurban and @kumbira.i 🩵🌟

These guys were working all hours last week to get the show up and this evening was exactly what they and we all needed.. it filled up our collective cup to the brim, in large part due to Emmanuel's family putting on an absolute spreaddd of Ghanaian goodness, warming and welcoming us into the space and facilitating conversation over bountiful quantities of jollof rice! 🍛🙏💫

And if that wasn’t enough, we had a socialist icon in the building! After meeting @bigshotdiner earlier that day, I had to seize the opportunity to plug the show to @zarahsultanamp and her lovely partner Craig who were in town for her birthday. They were instantly enthusiastic and took down the details. Them coming down to support and hear all about the works and themes of the show from Rudi and the artists was the cherry on top. Every bit as genuine, passionate and principled as you’d imagine. We love you Zarah! ❣️🫡

“A group exhibition exploring memory, migration, and the possibilities of joy as a form of resistance and resistance as joy. Bringing together works by Kumbirai Makumbe, Athen Kardashian and Nina Mhach Durban, and Emmanuel Awuni, the show draws from the thematics of the imagined world of Drexciya, a Black mythos born from the depths of the Atlantic, and reimagines it through the lens of contemporary Britain.”

Big big shout out to @peopledemcollective for playing a huge hand in making the show happen, and of course to the angels @quenchgallery @gemmapharo @lindseymendick @guyjoliver for their continued support of Rudi and this show! 🫂💝

✨ Ahead of our @whereelsespace live show next Saturday @goya.gumbani popped into the studio to guest on the new Groundations show for two hours of music and stories with @paulcamo, @dommy_p & @milz_____.

Hear from Goya about landing in London’s burgeoning jazz scene from Brooklyn in 2019 into a hotbed of it’s leading figures (via snoozing on Joe Armon-Jones’ sofa), which has since seen him collaborate with the likes of @joeajkeys, Fatima (@vanillasundaecocoasunset), Lex Amor (@lexysalutme), Lord Apex (@senseiapex) and @thesilhouettesproject.

We chatted recording @colorsxstudios, track names that sound like Simpsons episodes and Goya’s synergy with his exceptional live band - @frankybones, @milo.e.c., @jules_war, @santiagom - who will be performing with him on November 8th here in Margate 🙌
