I’m excited that my patched vessels are on view in “Here, There and Everywhere”@brooklynmetalworks until the end of August. Fabricated in steel, the vitreous enamel leaks out, filling the gaps while revealing the construction. Please take a look: many artists’ works on view! by @mimgray

Three jewelry artists on failure:

“I remember showing up to critique and there was just a box of tissues.” @melaniebilenker

“You might take a week building an object and fuck it up in five minutes.” @mimgray

Advice to students: “When I was a student, I copied and stole [ideas] from faculty. Have empathy for yourself.” @aaronpdecker

There was so much naked honesty from these three artists at my @nycjewelryweek panel “My Greatest Mistake: What Contemporary Jewelers Learn When Things Go Wrong.”

@thejewelrylibrary was standing room only as we discussed “making crap,” one’s work ethic, (“it’s the thing that’s going to take you places”— @mimgray ) and making the art you want to make, which all agreed was the only way to be a successful artist.
