Gone fishing
Thank you to @olsrigg for hosting the most magical and memorable NYE in an age. No pub, place or party is really anything but 4 walls and the person that runs it. Everything, every energy takes it’s queue from the top down, so despite biblical rain on the night the ripple effect was sublime.
Providing the perfect excuse to return here to Ceylon, my home from home for a restorative rest and recharge before getting back to it ie ‘work’ after over a year spent in bed recovering from chronic fatigue, I am beyond tickled pink to report I can now be found vertical and out and about once more!
This breakdown of the body has thankfully proved to be a breakthrough for the spirit. Using the time as wisely as I could, I deep dove into a plethora of healing research and practices and treated my mind, body and soul like a full time job. As a result I am emerging from the chrysalis of my bed one year older but dare I say definitely a smidge wiser.
‘23 for me was spent viewing the world from said bed and often times feeling like life was passing me by, but I also knew that the burn out could possibly be the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Forcing awakenings, a respect for my body, a deeper connection to spirit and a more conscious management of the mind, she’s back!
My hope for anyone reading this is that this finds them in fine fettle and spirits but just in case you’re going through it, I trust this serves as a petite reminder that it can all turn on a dime in a year and you can go from near death to the best frame of mind and energy of your life.
Small daily practices are the secret I’ve found. To slow down is key. To be intentional in every action and relationship and to do everything from love rather than for love.
Game changing!

From the bottom of my pencil case thank you to everyone who’s checked in and supported in varying ways, especially with Maggie, I feel cloaked in gratitude for everything, everyone, every experience good and bad and every second yet to come.

May this year bring us all blessings & lessons, peace, love and light.

The Chanel of churches 🤍

Just in from service to give thanks for all my blessings, most notably my health which I’m thrilled to report is making an excellent come back. Good Friday is the day of the body and today of course one of renewal, of rebirth.
My recovery really began around the beginning of last year. I was totally floored battling an intense wave of chronic fatigue and because of it was having to miss yet another day of living life, this time it was a friend’s wedding in scotland. It was not lost on me how wrong I was that I’d somehow so mismanaged my energy that I was having to miss something as sacred as a wedding. And is there really anything more sacred than a promise made between two people and so the beginning of new life itself.
In my sorrow I finally fell into surrender, struck by my own failings, I gingerly pulled myself round from bed to my knees and wept for forgiveness for not cherishing this gift of my body and why not, while I was there, I went through all my shame. Everything I’ve ever carried that I wish I had done differently.
It was the most humbling, sincere and authentic moment of my life. When the tears cleared almost immediately I experienced a shift, then low and behold, I could move, I could even stand, I even went outside! A Miracle!
Over the following few days I went about celebrating this new movement, although I still carried a heavy heart. But so empowered was I by my renewed faith that as I stepped into the shower I called up and prayed for healing. I asked for peace and as the water began to run, I kid you not, I was soon surrounded by the most beautiful light I could ever imagine, so beautiful I almost couldn’t take the euphoria. I didn’t want to get out that shower for love nor money. Talk about the power of the shower! I then spent the rest of day in total and utter bliss and well life hasn’t really been the same ever since.

Happy Easter lovely ones 🕊️🤍✨

This one’s rather personal.
I wasn’t going to mark my birthday this year.
It’s been quite a year of undoing. On April 1st, I left the nest I had lived in for the last 12 years. The fact that it was April Fool’s was not lost on me.
I’d become so cosy in my old abode that, in the end, the universe had to push me out of my perch.
Since then, I’ve been living pillar to post, out of a suitcase without a home of my own. Of all the years to find myself on the road, it had to be the Year of the Horse.

In Chinese astrology, in your own zodiac year, it’s considered particularly testing nay fortifying. And Lord, this one has delivered in spades.
My own nest is now inbound and all being well, will land the week of the 19th. Hallelujah.
But when my birthday, and the equinox, came around, without a place of my own yet, I wasn’t quite sure I felt like holding space for it. Or, truthfully, what exactly I was celebrating.
I’ve always found it easier to celebrate other people. But at the last minute I thought, hell, I’ve made it this far. And that felt reason enough to raise a glass.
Thank you to the beautiful souls who, with barely a moment’s notice, turned up of a Tuesday eve.
Really touched.

There’s always something poignant for me about the autumn equinox. That exquisite tipping point, a moment of perfect balance between light and dark, before nature begins her great letting go.
This has also been a year of stepping more fully into my North Node, the soul’s path and the direction we are here to grow towards. Mine is in Virgo: discernment, purification, refinement, service and healing.
Perhaps, as we get older, that discernment turns inward. A refinement of character. A clearer understanding of what is true to us, what no longer serves us and what we are being called towards.
Autumn teaches this beautifully. Nature doesn’t cling. She sheds, releasing what has completed itself and trusting the space left behind.

Thank you, Charlie, for sharing this beautiful autumnal colour retreat we created together, and to Will Spooner for the stunning snaps, Noah for the support and to one & all who came.

The Resistance will be back in full force next year

Whether or not you believe in portals, everything is energy.

Today feels like a good day for release. To look at what we’re carrying: old stories, limiting beliefs, behaviours, attachments and patterns that are no longer serving us.

As the astrologers would have it, the choices we make now set an energy we carry forward into the next cycle. So rather than getting caught in an inner loop, make a conscious, discerning choice about what comes with you and what you’re finally ready to leave behind.

Our bodies usually know when something feels off long before our minds can explain why.

Trust your gut. You can unpack the details later.

Have confidence in your own discernment. Confidence comes from the Latin confidere, to trust fully. Con, with, and fidere, to trust, from the same root as faith.

I keep coming back to Truth.

The Greek word hamartia, often translated as “sin”, carries the idea of missing the mark, like an arrow falling short of its target. I love that image. Not as judgement, but as misalignment.

If the starting point is out of alignment, the ripple effect will be too.

Perhaps today is a chance to notice where we’re aiming from. To recognise people’s intentions, to discern the supporters from the saboteurs in our lives, and where we may be playing either role for ourselves.

We’re all carrying luggage of one kind or another. We can keep tripping over it, or start unpacking it together.

Return to what feels true. We don’t need to see the whole staircase. Faith is simply trusting the next right step.

Less baggage. Better aim. 🏹 by @mimi.doctor

🌿

Nature has taught me that nothing of real value and rarity is created without heat and pressure. Emeralds, diamonds and rubies are all born that way. Perhaps we’re no different.

The hardest seasons don’t simply test our character; they reveal it. I’ve made more mistakes than I care to count over my lifetime, but I own them and consciously do the work so as to try not to repeat them. Years ago, I made a personal commitment to try to live as honestly with myself as I could, however uncomfortable that might be. I’ve learned that the price can be high. It’s a fail-safe filter—more often than not, an incredibly painful one. But the peace of mind is priceless.

Whenever people, places or things feel overwhelming, and you suddenly find yourself standing in the firing line of life, remember that no storm lasts forever. After the tempest passes, the birds sing again, the animals emerge, and as the fog begins to clear, you can finally see who’s who in the zoo, who’s really there for you and, most importantly, who you are too. And slowly but surely, you come back to life.

Nature reminds us that even the fiercest storms eventually give way to new growth.

Thank you to the finest of fine friends who weathered it with me. You know who you are.

Only love,
Mimi 🕊️🤍✨

Manifesting, Part II — Making Space

As I feel into my next London bolt hole / spacious, beautiful, elegant townhouse, I’m remembering an old truth: if you don’t ask, you don’t get.
The universe isn’t on a budget.

The images here are by Rose Uniacke, mostly taken from her own London home. I’ve looked at many beautiful interiors, but I always seem to come back to her work — monastic, calm, quietly healing.
A canvas before colour. A starting point, not a destination.

As we move through the final days of the Year of the Snake — a Year 9 this is the moment for completion and release.
The year ahead — the Year of the Horse, a Year 1 — is about creation, movement, and karma in motion. It won’t tolerate clutter, control, or half-held endings.

We don’t manifest by gripping.
We create by clearing.

Because clearing is not about loss —
it’s about integrity.

Each release brings us back into closer alignment with our true self.
And integrity is what invites the highest good to meet us there.

Nine Ways to Release
1. Sit in quiet reflection — no phone, no fixing, no music, just you. Pray. From there clarity has a chance to emerge.
2. Move the body, not to burn calories but to move energy — walk, stretch, dance.
3. Edit one physical space — a drawer, a cupboard, a shelf.
4. Spend time in nature — let it regulate you. Plant your feet on the earth or hands on a tree and ask Mother Nature to absorb your pain. She can take it.
5. Write what needs releasing — betrayals, boundaries you’ve let bend, name it, feel it, forgive it, then release it. No need to keep reliving it.
6. Decide what your nervous system can no longer carry — what connections, habits or patterns don’t honour your well being. Shew the energies from your field. Let them go.
Burning sage, epsom salt baths, clapping and lighting white candles all help.
7. Have an honest money check-in — what’s coming in, what’s leaking out.
8. Release habits born from survival, not desire.
9. Close something properly — a conversation, a chapter, a room.
Not by ghosting — by completion.
The snake sheds cleanly.
No venom.
No drama.

Make space.
The next chapter already knows how to find you.

Only love

Mood board
Monday Morning Manifest

Waking just before dawn to the church bells ringing —
that in-between hour where instinct speaks louder than habit.

As we enter the last two weeks of the Year of the Snake,
we’re invited to complete the shedding.
Release. Discernment.
Old patterns. Old thinking. Old skins.
And old things.
My attic, crammed with past lives, is finally being emptied properly.
Discerning decluttering — like a yard sale on steroids.
Everything must go!
Truth over sentiment.

I’m remembering the last time I truly did this.
It was a year before I found my current home.
I described it to the letter.
Near Goldborne Road, but not on it.
One flight up. I wanted lots of sky.
A city home that felt like the countryside.
Fireplaces. Plenty of wood. Quiet.
Be careful what you wish for.
Because you get it.

So this time I’m manifesting with precision.
Eyes open. Spine straight.
No shorthand with the universe.
I’m leaving in a few hours for the coast — a gentle recce for what’s next.
It may take me further out to sea, with a trip to the Balearics planned for the turning of the Chinese New Year — the Year of the Horse: a year of expansion, passion, creation, exploration.
In tune with that energy I’ll be off.
The future is fluid and the mind open.
Beyond excited with bounce in abundance.
The kind that lifts you out of bed without negotiation.
Woof

So I’m thinking very consciously about what I want to create
and who I want to become.
My first image is simple:
a writer who lives by the sea.
A life tethered to salt and horizon.
A bolt-hole in London, secured, not clung to. Freedom to come and go.
Writing, photographing every day.
More swimming. Less scurrying.
And to finish — words that feel like a compass, from Anaïs Nin:
‘I must be a mermaid… I have no fear of depths and a greater fear of shallow living.’

A Report from the Home Front

Change is afoot.
After a time of true transformation — deep healing — clarity has finally landed.
Hurrah.

It’s the moment when what’s been unfolding comes into focus,
and the way forward begins to reveal itself.

As I write this, the snow has just started to fall.
On Epiphany.
Snow is traditionally known to arrive on this day —
associated with purification and renewal,
a sense that what follows can begin anew.

I’ve lived in the same home for the last ten years.
A decade of tinkering and padding about,
rearranging furniture within an inch of its life.
It’s held love and loss and love again —
recovery, rebuilding, laughter, collapse, rest, and restoration.

It’s been my landing pad.
The place that carried me while I was becoming.

So learning between Christmas and New Year
that my home would be going in a couple of months
came as a shock.
My first instinct was to grip, to cling,
to resist letting go.

But only an hour later, while watching The Nutcracker with my mama,
as snow fell over the Sugar Plum Fairies,
and through prayer,
the way began to reveal itself.

I realised this wasn’t punishment.
It was growth.

How nature does one thing is how she does everything.
For even a simple acorn seed to realise its full manifestation,
it must come completely undone.
To anyone who doesn’t understand growth,
this would look like destruction.
Sometimes, when you think you’ve been buried,
you’ve actually been planted.

My father always said:
when in doubt,
just do the next right thing.

So this January, instead of escaping, I stayed and leant in.
I listened to my intuition.
I paid attention.
I rolled my sleeves up.

With each crisp blue morning,
what’s emerging now is momentum, direction,
and a renewed sense of possibility.

The next chapter is not far from town,
but it’s a proper project — a real wreck —
overlooking the sea.
Something to strip back, rebuild, and make anew.
Somewhere I’ll finally be able to call my own.

For now, this feels right.
Aligned.

So if you’re in the thick of change,
here’s my fave mantra:

When the way is unclear,
choose faith over fear ✨ by @mimi.doctor

✨
I went on a search for treasure
and found it in the light.

December, with its whirlwind of social flurry — movement, making, doing, busying — somehow, somewhere in there, I managed to crowbar in a cheeky trip to Lisbon. My first.

I felt suddenly compelled to go, having long harboured a sneaky suspicion there was gold to be found there.
And don’t you love sneaky suspicions?
They tend to be right.

Part of the mission was to explore a new creative, music-and-art-based healing modality, born out of lockdown as it transpired. More on that later.
But the real treasure wasn’t the work.

It was the love.
Time with generous hosts.
Lots of laughter.
And falling completely, helplessly,
in love with the light.

Everyone calls Lisbon a best-kept secret — but what I think they’re really referring to is the light.
A kind of light so beautiful you can’t take your eyes off it.
Like the place itself — a historic port of adventure — it inspires growth and exploration within and without.

In alignment with the winter solstice — that luminal turning point — waking at dawn, as I do, catching the start of the day and the ships slowly rolling in.
You could feel the wanderlust.

This year, for me, is about new places — alongside much-loved old faces, familiar arms, and tried-and-trusted ground.
‘26 is about stepping into the unknown: creation, new habits, new thinking, new and higher frequencies.

After all the flurry of doing,
today — Christmas Eve — is for being. Pottering gently. Fires crackling.
Present wrapping. No urgency.
A day to tune into the ancient song-lines of devotion to something far greater than ourselves.

A day to embrace Christ’s energy of
Truth, light, compassion.
Love without performance.
Integrity without applause.

Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

Into the light we go.
What we reap, we sow. ✨

Whether you believe in the divine or not,
I can only speak for myself —
but I’m an optimist.
It seems better than the alternative.

Every now and again, you’re asked to help a friend — and somewhere along the way, you realise they were helping you too. Support, when it’s real, moves in both directions.

My oldest and dearest, Graham and Vivi Cresswell, once dreamt of a life in Cornwall — a home shaped by sea-winds, soft weather, and the kind of land that settles your soul. Watching them bring that dream into form has been one of life’s quiet privileges.

They found their plot, danced with planning permissions, and designed a home that sits gently in its landscape. When Vivi asked me to cast an eye over the ergonomics and a few interior details, I was tickled pink. My contribution was minimal — but the joy of witnessing their journey was not.

Sometimes a designer’s role is simply to reflect someone’s confidence back at them… to show them they already know exactly what they’re doing. Vivi’s instinct for natural materials, muted tones, and the ever-shifting Cornish light has given their home a sense of harmony that’s hard to fake.

It’s a beautiful thing witnessing friends get life so right.

Interiors, when created with consciousness, can heal as surely as words or touch.

Design is not only the shaping of form — it’s the shaping of feeling.
When done with care, a room becomes medicine.
Every space can be an altar; every texture, a quiet prayer.

Healing is not only solitary — it is collective.

Women have always known this: around fires, in circles, through words.
It is said that women speak thousands more words a day than men —
a need rooted in our tribal memory of problem-solving, nurturing,
and healing through communication.

In this project, we honoured that feminine essence.
The integrity of the building as a home was preserved —
because it is the feminine who transforms a house into a sanctuary.

Spaces were created for women to gather, to speak, to release.

Fire became a central element:
the hearth as purification,
the glow of candlelight guiding the spirit inward.

Fabrics were natural and soothing;
art was chosen with intention — much from Remi’s own collection.
African and Indigenous works sat alongside portraits of her parents
from India and Africa, bringing memory, lineage and personal heritage into the space.

The interiors flowed outward too — onto the garden and the common beyond —
so that healing could remain in dialogue with nature.

It was a pleasure to be involved in this first phase of her work.

Years later, she has gone on to create both a digital and physical temple space:
The Isumataq Collective, a coaching community through which Remi guides
profound explorations for awakening women leaders.

Her work weaves ancestral reverence, grief, and self-mastery —
welcoming all curious seekers who wish to unearth
their own innate potential and purpose.

And through it all, there is an unmistakable poise —
a calm authority that holds space with grace and grounded wisdom.

Her essence shaped this project:
a home that carries her strength, her vision, and her nurturing power in every corner.
✨

Healing, like design, is an act of remembering who we are beneath the noise —
and as rooms are restored and reimagined, so too are we.
