The Edo people, also known as the Bini, are an ethnic group from the southern region of Nigeria, specifically in the Edo State. They have a rich cultural heritage and a fascinating history. the Edo people were known for their powerful kingdom, which was founded by Prince Oranmiyan, a son of the King of Ife. The kingdom was renowned for its advanced civilization, artistic achievements, and strong military. The Edo people were skilled craftsmen, traders, and farmers, and their capital city, Benin City, was a marvel of architecture and urban planning.

The Edo people were also known for their beautiful art, including intricate bronze castings, wood carvings, and colorful textiles. Their art often depicted their rich mythology and folklore, which was passed down through generations.

Despite their rich cultural heritage, the Edo kingdom faced challenges and was eventually colonized by the British. The coral bead in the Edo culture, it’s known that when a king or Oba sends a coral bead to a nobleman, it signifies that the Oba is bestowing an honorary title of a chief on the individual. For their services to the monarch, and the community.

The dress of the Edo cultural attire the long flowing Skirt reflects the long life of our spirits and ancestors who died to live again in the never ending world. The cross represents royalty and purity of the bini people the white also represents purity and peace which is dominant in the bini tribe of Edo state.…..
