DMV actors: your new weekly room is here.

DC Stage Society’s ongoing Acting Coaching Lab officially begins Sunday, September 13, from 2–4 PM.

Pierre and I created this workshop for actors who want more than a one-time class: a consistent space to stay connected to the craft, sharpen their instrument, take risks, receive real-time coaching, and build community with other committed performers.

Each Sunday, we’ll work on:
* Scene study and stronger choices
* Cold reads and audition technique
* On-camera adjustments and self-tape work
* Taking direction and applying notes in the moment
* Becoming a more prepared, confident, and responsive actor

Whether your focus is theater, film, TV, commercials, or self-tapes, you’re welcome in the room.

This workshop is pay what you can, with a suggested donation of $30 per session. You can register for individual Sundays or choose our 5-session pack for $127.50.

First workshop: Sunday, September 13 | 2–4 PM

Register through the link in bio.

Come train. Come collaborate. Come keep the work alive.

Last weekend, I drove 4 hours to Chincoteague Island to give myself a mini vacation. It was really nice. I went on a nice walk, got some crab cakes and ice cream. Things took a turn the next day when there was a storm that flooded the streets. I drove through the water, thinking that it would be fine. The cover underneath my car came off and was scraping against the ground. Salt water got into my car from underneath. I had to wait until the tide went down to start driving again. That drive over the bridge was the most terrifying 30 minutes of my life. There were debris clanking underneath my car and my steering wheel was shaking. I had to get a tow truck to deliver my car to the nearest dealership 40 minutes away. Long story short, my car was deemed a total loss and I’m now looking for another car. This was one of the most stressful weeks of my life, but this experience is teaching me lessons about patience, faith, and perseverance. I was shown how much support I have. I learned to really focus on the things that are most important to me. And to never again drive through high water 😅😭 by @mimilam79

Come join us on November 7th at 9am for On & Off the Page. It is an interactive writing and performance workshop designed to build a bridge between a screenwriter’s work on the page and actors’ work off the page.

Upon registration, writers will submit their scene and character descriptions to be anonymously assigned to an actor (or actors) which will be performed during the workshop. Screenwriters witness their words transformed by an actor who breathes life into their screenplay. Writers and actors will exchange feedback before receiving insight from the attendees and workshop facilitators: Joseph Vivens @josephvivens (award winning director/producer), Mimi Lam, MFA @mimilam79 (Actor/Director), Sadhana Jackson-Vivens,MD @sadhana_jackson_vivens (award winning producer).

This will be an exciting opportunity for creatives to collaborate, network and hone their craft! Registration link in bio. #ONandOFF #writer #actorlife #dmv #dmvwriters by @mimilam79
