On our last night in Amsterdam, @mimofrl ordered an omelet for dinner. It turned out to have pesto in it, made with pine nuts. What started as feeling sick to his stomach quickly turned into hives all over his body and trouble breathing. We got him to the ER, and thankfully he was okay. As he shares, even in a country with great healthcare, having a reaction abroad or away from home can be really scary, and it makes all the difference to be with someone who gets it.

🎙️ NEW EPISODE IS LIVE 🎙️

In this episode of The Food Allergy Brain, I sat down with my little brother Maximo, aka @mimofrl , a music producer and content creator in the underground hip hop space with over 200 million streams, all while living with food allergies.

We talk about the reaction he had on our trip to Amsterdam from hidden pine nuts in pesto, and the night an eel roll led to his first-ever EpiPen use. He opens up about phantom reactions during late-night studio sessions, traveling for work when someone else picks the food, and why the right people never make your allergies a big deal. He also shares his best advice for anyone chasing a creative career with a medical condition: find your community and put yourself out there!
