“Accountability by Any Means Necessary”
by Min Amentetu

The “Wall of Shame” exposes four politicians who deliberately advance systemic racism, voter suppression, and the rollback of civil rights:
* Cameron Sexton (Tennessee House Speaker): driving a “new era of Jim Crow” through the targeted silencing and expulsion of young Black lawmakers.
* Brian Kemp (Georgia Governor): ignoring his own redistricting special session to protect gerrymandered electoral maps aimed at diluting Black voting power.
* Mike Collins (Georgia Representative): voting to double health insurance premiums and defund rural hospitals to benefit the ultra-wealthy, while portraying a working-class trucker persona.
* Paul Sherrell (Tennessee Representative): employing white supremacist and racial terror rhetoric on the legislative floor by openly suggesting hanging people from trees.
These rollbacks are intentional political agendas, and these leaders must be held accountable “by any means necessary.” by @min_amentetu

The debate over Senate Bill 504 laid bare a stark moral confrontation, as critics and proponents charged that the “Nay” votes actively preserved a statutory shield for sexual exploitation—a dynamic Democratic State Representative Andy Fugate bluntly termed “pedophilia by marriage.” The most shocking reality underscored by the bill’s advocates was the blatant legal contradiction in the existing code: while the state established the legal age of sexual consent at 18, it still permitted 16- and 17-year-olds to marry. As Republican Representative Nicole Miller emphasized, this created a legal override for statutory rape, effectively allowing an adult to evade felony prosecution and gain sanctioned sexual access to a minor simply by obtaining a marriage license. Citing data from advocacy groups like Unchained At Last, supporters argued that because the vast majority of these unions involve young adolescent girls wed to adult men, opposing the ban directly enabled groomers and human traffickers operating under the coercion of family pressure.
Alongside these explosive protections for adult predators, the debate exposed how the law upheld the seemingly minor administrative mechanisms that make such exploitation possible. Opponents of the ban defended provisions that treat minors as legally autonomous partners capable of signing away their youth in a binding contract, yet simultaneously reliant on third-party parental sign-offs. By fighting to keep these narrow procedural exceptions on the books, “Nay” voters normalized drastic age-gap relationships that would otherwise provoke universal public outrage, granting the state’s formal seal of approval to predatory unions through routine bureaucratic paperwork. by @min_amentetu
