Sometimes, you won't get the apology you're looking for, or acknowledgment of the behavior that hurt you.

Sometimes, you won't resolve conflict in the way that you hoped.

Sometimes, you won't get the closure that you're looking for.

Your life still needs to go on. Growing and healing will require us to accept that we might not always get the outcome we want, but we still have the power to move on and live a meaningful life. by @minaa_b

You can love someone and dislike some of their qualities. Sometimes, this person is your mother, brother, or even a friend.

You don't have to "throw the whole person away" just because they have imperfections that annoy you. It's okay to admit that there are people in your life whom you care for and love, who also have qualities that get on your nerves. by @minaa_b

Do you feel like you had a completely different childhood from your sibling?

Just because siblings grow up together and are raised by the same parents doesn't always mean they have the same perception of their family.

Sometimes this is the result of age gaps, developmental differences, trauma, and how each child is parented.

Speak up. The only way to build your assertiveness skills is to speak up. Stop pretending things are fine when they aren't, and teach yourself that you can do what feels hard. by @minaa_b

Raise your hand if you have a sibling you are not that close to!

Siblings who are raised together won't always have a close bond due to a variety of reasons. Not being close with every member of your family, including your sibling, is normal and more common than you might think. by @minaa_b

Friendships are relationships, too. It's okay to have needs and expectations with the people you choose to do life with who aren't tied to you by blood or romance. Expressing your needs in a friendship is perfectly normal and healthy. by @minaa_b

Doing too much is how you end up exhausted, burnt out, overstimulated, and overwhelmed. If going hard means constantly dysregulating your nervous system, your mental health will continuously suffer.

Growth looks like knowing your limits and setting boundaries with yourself when necessary. by @minaa_b

Emotionally immature people lack the ability to see beyond their own self-interest. This is why they struggle with reciprocity in their relationships–they care more about their needs being fulfilled than pouring into others.

Discernment is critical in relationships because it allows us to see people for who they are and not who we want them to be. Sometimes, your requests aren't unreasonable, you're just asking the wrong person. by @minaa_b
