New Meds, out now. Felt this track worked as a kinda bridge towards what’s to come. I like it, there’s another song it’s next to that you mighta seen - I’m still figuring out if I wanna say anything on that one or leave it speak for itself. New Meds is essentially about overcoming a toxic friendship that changed me into someone I no longer recognised and finding some kinda peace. I’ve been trying to turn away from bitterness and obsessing over other people’s journey’s when there’s a lot to focus on with my own. Trying to be the man I was closer to being before life and the world messed things up.

Thought I’d add some press shots - old to new, the journey has been clapped but hopefully worth it. Thanks for joining me on it, there’s some big turns coming, can’t wait to show you all the sights ❤️ by @minassound

Thank you. Tried to fit as much as I can in 1 minute 30 but I still need to thank @oliver_miles for absolutely smashing the sound and not even batting an eyelid at the chaos of my awful organisational skills and taking the stress in his stride while still making sure to tell me it’s gonna be sick, absolute legend and the best sound guy ever, EVER. @heyadamwhitmore for being an amazing rep, making sure our needs were met and calming my nerves with the smile that could calm the most raging of heads. It’s an honour to be back. See you all on a stage again soon x by @minassound

New Meds on @bbc6music (the best one). Anyways…

Just wanna take a sec to give a genuine thanks to someone who’s not only relentlessly supported Welsh artists for years and years but on a personal one, supported me from pretty much the start.

@huwstephensdj has given his time, space and energy to me during this journey more than I can put into a caption on Instagram.

Back when I first moved back to Cardiff after Uni I was on the @forteproject10 as part of a project which was then known as Dead Method. Huw did a talk and I very briefly shook his hand afterwards. I remember back then seeing Huw as the top dog in whatever this Welsh music thing is, an almost out of reach pillar of the scene for me at the time. I’m sure a lot of bands n artists coming up felt and maybe still feel the same. Then we bumped into each other years later, after he’d played some tracks of mine on radio at the @eisteddfod - it was a brief interaction but I could tell his happiness to see me was genuine. We went for a coffee after that, maybe a year later. He told me something very honestly, something I actually put down as one of the first seeds of clarity that went on to grow into this new way I’m doing “Minas” altogether.

He told me he’d seen my show at @othervoiceslive in Cardigan earlier that year. The show in particular was a difficult one, one where I’d lost my head in the green room prior and decided to try and fix my issues in order to perform well how I always did back then, by drinking as much as I could before setting foot on the stage. He simply said the following words:

“It was not good.”

And he would know. Because he’d seen that I was better than that.

That honesty made me realise who Huw is. He’s a real one. In this industry - as I’ve come to learn that’s a hell of a rare thing. That simple sentence impacted me so heavily and still rings in my head to this day, reminding me what’s important. The art, not the bullshit that surrounds it.

So thank you Huw, for everything.

The last year one of my biggest issues has been posting emotionally charged instagram stories. When you repeat an action enough it becomes habit or in this case, a coping mechanism. It’s a dead one, doesn’t help me or anyone else and the message - the important part - gets lost. I’m by no means the only one with this issue but ultimately it made things harder for me so if anyone reading this is in that place, turn it into something cooler than a paragraph online. It’s what I used to do and for a while I clearly forgot, not anymore anyways. I’ll probably slip up occasionally like I did even earlier today but it’s summin that I’m working on and aware of, just wanna make sure anyone following me and/or supporting me in any way knows that.
