A character’s story begins before the first line.

Through silhouette, texture, color, and detail, costume design helps tell us who a character is and the world they inhabit.

At Mindfield 2026’s Costume Design Contest, finalist designs came to life through runway presentation and performance. These moments from our August 30 closing-day program at the Historic Lobo Theater celebrate the connection between what an artist creates and how a performer brings it to life.

Thank you to the designers, performers, and creative team who brought their work to the Mindfield stage.

How do critics evaluate a film, and what shapes the conversation around awards season?

At Mindfield 2026, Dan Gutierrez led Inside the Critics Choice Awards at the @lobotheaterabq , exploring film criticism, awards recognition, and the role critics play in shaping audience awareness.

A member of the Critics Choice Association since 2011, Gutierrez brought an industry perspective to our closing-day program.
