🇺🇸 USA Skyrunning is back and I’m SO here for it!🥇1st lady and 5th overall for the first race of the series.

——
This was STEEP and an absolute grind with 40% graded climbs and descents. Clocked 3:24:26 with a total of 8,000ft over 13ish miles. That’s my kinda racing!! 🏔️ So so good to be back climbing steep mountains (in this case, twice 😅)

Special thanks to @rednewtracing and Ian for putting on such a special national event with a strong local feel here at @whiteface_mountain_races 👏 and shout out to @skyrunner__usa for leaning into special places and people for races… it’s the heart of this sport! 🫶

Catch you at the next one? @beastofbigcreek is next in the circuit… ladies, come race with me! taken in Whiteface Mountain by @mindfullyrobin

Top 10! 🇺🇸 @skyrunthemournes

Northern Ireland’s granite & sheep filled mountains did not disappoint… 35k / 9000ft gain later, my cup is full🍺, & we’ve cold plunged in the Irish Sea, just how I love it 🍀

Truly a sea to sky race and wildly technical in ways I didn’t expect. Pushed through some dark places, and was pleasantly surprised by some newly tapped speeds I didn’t know I had.

Marks the end of my first season racing in the @skyrunning World Series… onward and upwards!

More recap thoughts soon 🇯🇪🍀💚

Finally, it feels so good to have time to reflect. It’s ironic how much running has taught me not to rush the process of adaptation to new stressors or environments, because I just LOVE to be impatient 🤷‍♀️ Reflection takes time, I’m learning 🙃

We’ve been settling into our new life up north for just over one month and it’s finally hitting me: the overflowing gratitude for the last 10 years of calling Bend, Oregon my home.

To say with absolute certainty that I would not be who I am today, let alone have the courage to buy 6.5 acres and start over with my love @t_brower , without all the people and places Bend brought in… it’s overwhelming.

For so many years, my entire identity was wrapped up in Bend, (which was both lovely and exhausting) and I don’t think I’d be the wife, dog mum, runner, or anything else that I am today without all of the ways this high desert shaped me in my 20s and early 30s.

Ty and I have spent the last couple years trying to patiently sort through why we wanted a change, where this drive was coming from, where to go, and it’s been a loooong process. When we finally and unexpectedly found it, everything happened so quickly that we left somewhat abruptly due to closing timelines with finding sub leasers etc etc.

We’re both so grateful for every single person who has been a part of our journey, from listening to our endless woes about where to move to, to helping us actually move. We miss you and YET know (and have learned) that the most meaningful relationships transcend time, space, and all of life’s obstacles.

You always have a home up here on the peninsula and our door is always open for old and new friends alike 💙

Thank you, Bend 🌳🌲🏔️ by @mindfullyrobin

What’s life been like when not running?👆

We’ve been weeding, planning, dreaming, learning, and just walking these 6.5 acres every day, trying to lean into the vision and plot out some steps to get there. The mornings are cool and misty, the days are warm and full of ocean breeze, and the mountains are steep as crap. My body loves the sea level, the soil underfoot, and the ability to finally grow whatever, whenever we want. There’s so much work to do on @chateaugrassshaque and I’d be lying if I said we weren’t overwhelmed 🥳 but the days are sweet and I’m savoring every minute with our little family.

I’m gearing up for two big Skyrace before the season closes out and really leaning into time at our new home before that next travel chaos chapter starts. At long last, home sweet home baby 🍐☀️💙🌾 taken in Sequim, Washington by @mindfullyrobin

Crystal Mountain @cirqueseries is one of my favorite weekends of the year because of the VIBES, and the fact that my family and extended family come up and enjoy the weekend. It’s not only about the race- but the growing PNW mountain running community 🏔️🌸🌲

Favorite parts of this weekend in particular:
1. Making new friends
2. My dad volunteering as course marshal / EMT
3. THE WEATHER
4. Dinner with my fam at the cabin
5. The annual pre-race secret trail mission with Sky that includes crawling our way up what feels like the Forbidden Forest behind the cabin 🕷️
6. Not knowing my finish place or time because my legs felt like shite and I was able to just relax into a pace… then finishing either 7th or 9th I’m still not exactly sure 😅

Thank you for having me @cirqueseries 🥳 Until next year!!

We’ve moved! Our new home is 6.5 acres nestled on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, where the mountains meet the sea 🏔️🌲🌊🍎

What started as a dream has turned into reality, and not without a little uncertainty, a lot of patience, many winding conversations and what-ifs, and mostly trusting and leaning into what we knew felt right. We’ve spent the last 2 years spinning around and around (and around) trying to find “the perfect” combination of lush greenery, mild climate, exceptional running terrain, thriving artist community, more rain, ocean, mountains, and proximity to family... and well it turns out the perfect place is a made up concept. BUT what does exist was in fact where the mountains do meet the sea- right in front of us, not far from where I grew up.

We weren’t planning on moving to the Peninsula, but when this popped up, it was an immediate YES and a subsequent HOW. The only way forward was to dive in headfirst.

The home itself is a straw bale home, built for passive solar and finished with clay plaster made from the land we’re living on. We have mature food forests, two wildlife ponds, a greenhouse, perennial gardens, and over twenty varieties of basketry willow.

We are carrying forward more than a decade of someone else’s thoughtful stewardship, and are feeling deep gratitude to call this ours (Really, it’s Sky’s 🐾 , let’s be honest.)

At the moment we’re overwhelmed, overjoyed, and overflowing with happiness. We feel at home, and I haven’t felt truly at home in years 🙏

More soon on what we’re planning to grow here, and why this is actually my dream world for running. For now, follow the journey here: @chateaugrassshaque taken in Olympic Peninsula, Washington by @mindfullyrobin

Legs still feel like lead from this one 😅
Going from racing USA Skyrunning champs to 36 hrs in Boston for @oiselle leadership summit and meeting so many incredible run community leaders… to racing @cirqueseries at Crystal Mountain (all in less than a week 😵‍💫) reminded me that there are SO many run worlds that orbit around each other. And I actually think the most important thing runners can do is GET OUTSIDE our immediate running bubble 🫧 and learn about others. We love discomfort, otherwise why would we do what we do… but it’s a different kind of discomfort to pop our insulating running spheres and learn about adjacent, and very connected running spheres. Skyrunning, meet the road running hub of Boston. Track running, meet the short speedy mountain running work of Cirque. I made so many new friends and acquaintances last week and feeling grateful for the opportunity to lean in ❤️

From the finish line to the start line and everything leading up to the day… it’s all about the details and the insane amount of life that happens leading up race day 😅 The actual race is always a blur. I try to slow it down mentally and take it all in (without actually slowing down pace!) but it’s usually over it seems in a snap of the fingers. The build up is where, I think, you either prepare or you (even accidently without knowing) break away from all that you’ve built during training. Here’s a peak into rhe finish line and the 48 hours before race day, including course scout, pre scout hike, pre race meal (it’s very bland lol) and pre race baby snuggles (thx @v_estey_ for letting me borrow your bb). More where all of this came from!

Kismet delivered!! 4th lady of the day amidst some absolute senders here in New England. These gals don’t mess around in the slippery steep granite! It rained the entire race which made for a scrappy and very very wet course. I was quickly reminded that running downhill on very slick granite requires a crazy level awareness of rock color and gradient and I am a bit out of practice!! Nonetheless, this course was an absolute JOY and privilege to experience. The NE technical scene has my heart and I’ll be back for more granite @kismetcliffrun ❤️

As the @skyrunner__usa final… this means there’s more in the tank and more racing to be had. More soon 👀🙏

Thx to my hunnies and ma for standing in the rain and cheering me on 🙏🪻🌸

And as always, massive shout to everyone at @oiselle for supporting the dream that’s turning into reality, one day at a time.

Kismet Cliff Skyrace for @skyrunner__usa final tomorrow!! We’re going straight UP some real east coast tech and I’m so excited to just run and crawl and bomb down some new mountains… and mostly grateful for the opportunity to do what I love out there. YEW ❤️ a big chef’s kiss for this terrain!

Life has been a little (too) busy/wild lately and I am finding myself feeling just so happy and relaxed to be here doing what I know, amidst navigating life things I know less well 😝❤️

August recap is again fashionably late b/c well within the last month we raced, wedding’d, trained, celebrated sky’s 7th birthday, europed, cheesed, raced again, raced with Tyler for his first race, packed, bought property, moved, unpacked, launched a new fall season w/ @oiselle, and product tested spring accessories.

We’ve been too busy and I’m excited to slow down 😴 BUT with that, September will include 2 more races, more sleep, buying a new refrigerator, and more settling into our new life- more on this soon ❤️❤️❤️ by @mindfullyrobin
