When I started posting music as MindWillWander I just wanted to just post my happy little songs and I didn’t think I was doing anyone any harm. I didn’t use pictures of myself because I wanted it to be just about my musical nonsense. I didn’t want my gender / age / appearance to mean a thing or be judged by it. And honestly, it has been a net positive to my life and I’ve met some amazing people through it.

However recently I have had some genuinely upsetting and abusive messages and that’s why I haven’t posted in a while. These messages / comments are usually centred around the fact I made some music videos with AI months ago. Now regardless of your opinion on how a random guy in his spare room made a random music video, it doesn’t give you the right to call them horrendous things, especially when you don’t know me or my carbon footprint. I have been veggie and later vegan for 30 years, I work from home and walk everywhere, I recycle and my carbon footprint and impact on this planet is better than most in the west, and I don’t need or deserve to be sent abuse because I tried to make a couple of fun music videos with a recurring character using some AI tools. Even stuff I’ve done more recently, that doesn’t use AI, like the ASCII art, they even accuse me of being AI.

I am just a human, who has been making music since the 90s when I discovered AphexTwin, stopped for years, and started again because I discovered the two greatest muses I will ever find in my lifetime; SOPHIE and my irl partner who introduced me to her music.

I just feel like, if you have nothing nice to say, feel free to say nothing.

If you made it this far, feel free to swipe for a face reveal to prove I am a real life aging human who hopefully does not deserve to die for using some AI visuals. by @mindwillwander

Cheeky little remix of my favourite song from the latest Charli XCX album “No One Lasts Forever” is on my Soundcloud now, and full video about to go on my YouTube channel. Thanks to @pachon.in.motion for the core visuals and of course @charli_xcx @agcook404 @finnnkeannne for the original song. All rights to original artists ofc. #hyperpop #charlixcx #noonelastsforever by @mindwillwander

THIS IS NOT A BLACK MIRROR EPISODE! This is literally what I just scrolled through on YouTube. Someone injecting insects with energy drink to feed to ants, straight into Jordan Peterson telling me I’ve never had an original idea. WTF even is the internet anymore? 🤷🏼‍♂️ But don’t worry guys, if you join up now you can save $1776 dollars #blackmirrorbutitsreallife #wtf #blackmirror by @mindwillwander

RIP Oliver Tree. Not since SOPHIE has the death of an artist upset me so much. So many hours listening to his music. I was lucky enough to see him live. Can’t believe I won’t get to again. #olivertree #thankyouforthemusic by @mindwillwander

Life has been pretty stressful recently, so I completely forgot that I have song coming out TOMORROW!

I scheduled it months ago to release on all platforms and a full video on YouTube simultaneously. It’s actually a remix of a song I made with the first music software I ever used many years ago.

The song is about being true to yourself despite external pressures, which made me think of a Nautilus whose evolution traces back many millions of years. I hope you love it! Thanks as always for the support ❤️ #hyperpop #pcmusic #sophieforever by @mindwillwander

What was the first #DAW you ever used?

I recently found a folder of all my old .FTR files and 96kbps mp3s from several albums worth of music I made when I was much younger (most of which is batshit crazy electronica, and not very good). However it led to me spending many hours on google trying to find the music software I used to use.

I think this is it pictured, a 1999 OEM repackaging of Fruity Tracks, called PRO DJ. A friend of mine at the time introduced me to Aphex Twin, and my mind was blown that one guy could make all these sounds with computers and electronics and it inspired me to give it a go. #musicsoftware #digitalaudioworkstation #90ssoftware by @mindwillwander
