1995 C36 AMG🤍

1995–1997 Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG (W202) — A Modern Classic

In 1993, Mercedes-Benz and AMG formally joined forces to develop AMG models sold and serviced through Mercedes-Benz’s global dealer network. Their first creation was the W202 C36 AMG.

Based on the C280’s M104 straight-six, AMG increased the bore from 89.9 to 91 mm, fitted forged aluminium pistons and raised compression from 10:1 to 10.5:1. A specially modified S350 turbodiesel crankshaft increased stroke from 73.5 to 92.4 mm, resulting in 3.6 litres and 280 hp – 83 hp more than the C280.

The chassis received equally serious attention. SL600 front brakes with 12.6-inch discs and four-piston calipers were combined with E420 rear brakes, stopping the C36 from 70 mph in 163 feet. Uprated anti-roll bars increased roll stiffness by 35% front and 49% rear, complemented by AMG-tuned gas dampers.

Power went to the rear wheels through a modified four-speed automatic from E420 and with traction control.

Sitting 25 mm lower than a regular C-Class, the C36 featured 17-inch AMG Monoblock wheels – 7.5 inches front and 8.5 inches rear – and a subtle AMG body kit.

Understated, engineered rather than merely styled, and historically significant: the C36 AMG was the car that began the modern Mercedes-AMG era.

Late August on the road home. 🌅

Heading home to Stord after a few busy and inspiring days in Stavanger for @ons_stavanger — meetings, familiar faces, new connections and plenty of good conversations.

Then, a welcome change of pace. The old Daimler taking the slow way north, crossing the fjords with @fjord1 as the last of the summer light settled over the coast.

There’s something rather special about travelling this part of Norway by ferry — the quiet crossings, the salt air, and those long late-August sunsets.

A beautiful way to wind down after a few hectic days — and an even better feeling knowing that home is waiting at the end of the day.

Taking the Daimler the long way around — from Haukeli and down the old road outside the tunnel at Austmannalia. Because some cars, and some roads, deserve a little extra time.

No rush, no shortcuts — just twelve cylinders, old-school British comfort and a winding piece of Norwegian road that still knows how to make a journey feel like a journey. Sometimes the detour really is the destination. ⛰️🇬🇧🇳🇴

No rush, no shortcuts — just twelve cylinders, old-school British comfort and a winding piece of Norwegian road that still knows how to make a journey feel like a journey. Sometimes the detour really is the destination. ⛰️🇬🇧🇳🇴

Always a must when crossing the mountains — a quick stop at @haukeliseter for freshly baked pastries, good coffee and a moment to simply take in the spectacular surroundings. ☕️🥐⛰️

There’s something special about Haukelifjell — the crisp mountain air, the dramatic landscape and that unmistakable feeling of being high up in the Norwegian mountains. And somehow, the journey across just wouldn’t feel quite complete without a stop at Haukeliseter. 🇳🇴

One of those little traditions that makes the journey home after a weekend at the mountain cabin feel like part of the experience 🥐☕️
