"Get away from her..."

Hard to believe it's been 40 years since Cameron gave us one of the greatest films of all time. Aliens is a masterclass in building tension and providing explosive action. I've lost count of how many times I've watched this movie.

To celebrate the anniversary, I finally picked up this massive NECA Queen and put it in front of my lens. I'm loving how imposing it is when placed next to any other figure. If only NECA would rerelease the marines again....

"Echo station 3-T-8, we have spotted Imperial walkers."

Seeing the AT-ATs attack Hoth for the first time as a kid is a cinematic memory that never fades. The imposing size, the heavy mechanical footsteps, and the feeling of total dread they created left a massive impression on me.

These Bandai models are fantastic and I've been trying to find a way to photograph them for awhile. Also, this Black Series Hoth Trooper is one of my favorite figures.

"If I don't come back, tell Mother I love her."

A little homage to one of my favorite films, No Country for Old Men. The cinematography in that movie is a constant source of inspiration, so I wanted to try and capture that desperate, dusty atmosphere.

For this shot, I swapped Llewelyn Moss for the Black Series Cassian Andor—who feels right at home in a high-stakes survival situation and had him running from an old RC LandCruiser I picked up from AliExpress. And yes, that’s a Duplo briefcase standing in for the satchel of cash!

Futile escape - I've probably watched Aliens more than any other film in my life. It's such a perfect movie from start to finish. I'd been thinking about doing this setup for a long time, and just needed some time to do it. I'm really impressed with how the knock off Neca Ripley turned out. With just a little face repaint she looks perfect. Also, the ubiquitous diorama is so good it feels like cheating.

The Twin Suns Duel - my favourite scene in all of Rebels recreated with SHfiguarts Obi Wan and Black Series Darth Maul. I was pretty late to the Star Wars Rebels party, but once my son was old enough we watched it all the way through and I realized what I'd been missing. Once I saw this scene I knew I had to try and recreate it. SHF Obi Wan is very fiddly to pose and his arms always fall off but I got there in the end. Then with a lot of Photoshop I think it turned out pretty good.
