Garage is finally finished — and I’m genuinely buzzing with how it’s turned out. After years of working in a cramped garage (or just out in the open), having this kind of space feels like a dream come true.
Time to actually use it and get back on the car.

Got it back out last week for more testing at @santapod with a few subtle changes to the setup (increased caster and some bump steer corrections) to try and dial out the wandering under load… but unfortunately, it’s still there.

Played around with toe settings too — ½ degree in, ½ degree out — but no real change or improvement. So it’s back to the drawing board.

Next step: tyres. These ones are now 10 years old, so it’s definitely time for a fresh set and see what difference that makes 👀

Progress on the car has been slow this year!
Lots of reasons contributing to that with the main reason it’s moving house and a new workshop.
Here is my new workshop, we had to completely replace the roof as it was leaking and rotten, I used a EPDM roof which hopefully will out live me.
Then I decided to do a small extension as this has made the whole workshop work a lot better for me, I’ve never laid a brick before and if I’m honest I hated every brick😂 but happy with the end result even though not perfect, it’s given me two spaces, a garage area and a workshop.
I never had so much room! Coming from a small single garage. Still loads to do and it’s still a mess better getting there. by @minidillow

A couple of weeks ago, I had a great day meeting up with the 1/4 mile Minis. I decided to drive the car there and back, which turned out to be both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because it’s always nice to drive the car to the track rather than trailer it—but a curse because, as usual, I needed tools I didn’t bring to adjust the settings.
Anyway, the car drove there and back faultlessly! I even set a new PB: 13.73 @ 102mph. Only a small improvement, but I’m looking for a lot more!
I’m still having issues at around 70mph, with the steering going very light and the car wandering a bit. This meant I couldn’t keep my foot flat during any of the runs.
Another challenge was getting to grips with the traction control—it’s a learning curve for me. The good news is I seem to have it controlling wheelspin well, but I set it too strong and didn’t bring the laptop lead to adjust it 🙄. That probably cost me about half a second in the 60ft.
All in all, though, it was a good day—just a few small tweaks needed, I’m hoping.

For the first time ever in my ownership of 25 years I can finally say the car is finished!
To mark this milestone I took a trip to my local @classic_vintagestony car show, I used to go most years with my dad as we’ve lived in the area for most my life.
Due to circumstances there’s currently no plans for modifications to the car!

So the engine/gearbox combo is all singing! No leaks all running sweet and happy with the current final drive ratio.

The final part to the car was to finish the interior, I wanted to have an interior that can be quickly removed for drag racing when required, but still be on the light side of an interior the guys @rawhideupholstery done an amazing job and exactly what I was looking for on the door cards and seat inserts, finished off with like new oem carpet! Really happy with how it’s all come out. Also I’ve added a nod to my late dad he’s the reason I’ve been into cars and helped me with anything!

Just one last thing to do now, take it to @santapodraceway and see what times it will run🤞wish me luck!

So it’s been a fairly busy winter and life gets in the way sometimes!
I’m terrible at documenting it all but improvements for this year inc #tillettracingseats for some added lightness.
Gearbox changes too a semi straight cut from the very loud full straight cut and a slight change in ratio pinion support bearing to hopefully prevent failure.

A new lighter bonnet has been made for the car and currently in the final stages of finishing that.

Finally just passed the MOT for this year, so that’s another year on the road for the car.

Special mention has to go to @paulwigintonclassicvehicles he has helped me massively and gone over and beyond, its in crap times where you really find out who you’re real friends are. Also thanks to @benwiginton for the photos.

Help! Post, this year I’ve replaced my seats and was looking to add some trim to the car to help keep it “road car” anyway I’ve had some issues lately with trying to find a suitable trimmer!

The issue I seem to be having are much the same, the #Tillet seat and carbon door cards are out of the ordinary and the trimmers I’ve been to see aren’t comfortable in the job.
So anyone got suggestions/ recommendations for a #trimmer #upholsterer that has done this work before or could do this work? taken in Milton Keynes by @minidillow

A little write up in @miniworldmagazine this month about British mini club show at Stanford hall.
Nice little picture of the car and a rare picture of my ugly mug😂got in the magazine.
I was really happy with the day, first was the longest drive car has had since the new motor! So I was apprehensive! But everything was good with no issues.
Final drive needs looking into though, it’s a tad to short for road use.
Although the car was ok, I’m going to look at adding some cooling, this was a cool day but the car on a long trip was hotter than I’d like, so I’m looking at options.

Not a lot going on with the car atm, planning winter upgrades and sorting a few minor fixes that came up with some road and track time.

One thing on the list was to replace my aluminium bonnet, it’s been bothering me from the day I fitted it, it was very thin and after a few years use very bumpy and misshaped!
So a new carbon one was ordered from @tc.composites, fit was very close to perfect, but as per most classic cars , no two are the same! Had to complete some cut and shut to get on line bang on. Also made some new spacers to get the Dzus fasteners to sit correctly.

Success! After a mad week getting bits together, the car performed and got a massive 194.2hp on race fuel and 185.9 on pump fuel!

More than happy with those figures, massive thanks to @the_car_kitchen and @christodd_mk1fiesta the car wouldn’t have got those figures without their genius.

The week before after Stanford, I noticed the clutch slipped agian! Stripped it all down and found the static power wasn’t there. In a mad panic two days before the rollers I headed down to @kentautodevelopments so they could look over my clutch. A new diaphragm set up and rebalancing was completed and just in time for me to get it back on the car! @kentautodevelopments helped me out of a whole and squeezed me in last minute so thanks to them.
