In the Golden Era of bodybuilding one question divided the training world.

Heavy low-rep squats or brutal high-rep sets.
Arthur Jones had a clear opinion.
Jones was the inventor of Nautilus training machines and the creator of High Intensity Training. he believed most bodybuilders were doing far too much volume without training with real intensity. brief workouts. very hard sets. true muscular failure.

But when it came to legs his thinking went further.
The muscles of the legs are used all day through walking, standing and everyday movement. because of that they are naturally adapted to handle large amounts of work. according to Jones this means the legs often require longer sets and more time under tension to fully fatigue the muscle and stimulate growth.

Not just heavy weight. deep metabolic fatigue.
Pushing the legs through demanding high-rep sets that forced the muscles to keep working even after initial strength faded. metabolic stress as a primary driver of leg development.
This philosophy influenced athletes throughout the High Intensity Training movement and helped shape one of the biggest debates in strength training history.

Heavy low reps or brutal high reps.
Arthur Jones believed the answer was more complicated than most people think.

Save this. share it with someone who only does heavy low-rep squats.

The incline dumbbell press is one of the most effective upper chest exercises available. it is also one of the most dangerous if you lose control at the wrong moment.

The moment of maximum risk is not during the press. it is during the descent. specifically the bottom position where the dumbbells are heaviest relative to your leverage and closest to your face.

When fatigue sets in the wrists can rotate unexpectedly. the elbows can collapse inward. the dumbbells can shift toward the face faster than your reaction time allows.
This is not a rare event. it happens to experienced lifters training alone with weights they can no longer fully control.
Three things that prevent it.
Never go to complete failure on heavy incline dumbbell press without a spotter. leave RIR 1-2 on your last set when training alone.

Control the descent. four seconds minimum on the way down. if you cannot control the weight on the way down the weight is too heavy.
Know your exit. if a rep is failing the dumbbells go to the sides and toward the shoulders. never fight a failing rep toward your face.

The exercise builds the upper chest.
The technique keeps your face intact.
Save this. share it with someone who trains alone with heavy dumbbells.

Most people train for themselves.
New research suggests the benefits may extend to the next generation.

Exercise does not change your DNA sequence. but it changes something equally important. epigenetic markers. chemical signals that regulate how genes are expressed. these changes occur in sperm and may influence factors related to metabolism, stress response and overall health in future children.

What the research has found so far.

Regular exercise promotes healthier epigenetic patterns in sperm. active fathers have produced offspring with improved metabolic outcomes in animal studies. smoking, excessive alcohol and chronic stress leave negative epigenetic marks that can be passed on. both maternal and paternal health before conception matter significantly.

Epigenetics is often described as the switches that turn genes on or off. your lifestyle choices influence these switches without altering your DNA code itself.
The scientists are still learning exactly how these effects are passed on. but the direction of the evidence is consistent. healthy habits today may have benefits that extend far beyond your own lifetime.
You are not just training for yourself.

Save this. share it with someone who needed another reason to show up.

Most people do rope pushdowns and feel nothing in their triceps.
Charles Glass fixes that immediately.

The godfather of bodybuilding has been coaching elite physiques for over four decades. when he teaches a movement there is always one thing he is looking for.
The muscle doing the work. not the joint. not the momentum. the muscle.

Watch what he corrects in this clip. the adjustments are almost always the same for anyone performing rope pushdowns for the first time correctly.
Flare the wrists at the bottom. at full extension the hands rotate outward. this supination increases the contraction of the lateral head the head that creates the horseshoe shape. most people finish every rep with neutral wrists and never fully contract the muscle they are training.

Elbows fixed at the sides. the moment the elbows drift forward the shoulder takes over and the tricep loses tension. Glass keeps the elbows pinned throughout the complete range. the tricep works from top to bottom with no assistance.
Full lockout with a pause. complete extension at the bottom. a brief hold before returning. the tricep must reach full contraction on every rep. cutting it short wastes the most important moment of the movement.

Charles Glass has been teaching this for decades.
The correction takes seconds. the difference lasts every session from now on.

Save this. apply these three cues on your next tricep session.

Most people start rows with their arms.
Charles Glass starts with his shoulders.
This is the difference between a back exercise and a bicep exercise with extra steps.

Watch what Glass teaches in this clip. before a single pull happens the scapula is already set. retracted. depressed. the shoulder blade in the exact position it needs to be for the lat to function as the primary mover throughout the complete range.

Most people skip this entirely. they grab the bar and pull. the bicep takes over immediately. the lat gets a fraction of the stimulus it should. session after session of rowing and the back never develops the thickness they are training for because the muscle was never truly doing the work.
Two steps. every single row. every single rep.
Set the scapula first. pull the shoulder blade back and down before the movement begins. this pre-activates the lat and removes the trap and bicep from the starting position.

Then pull. drive the elbow toward the hip. not the hand toward the chest. the elbow. this keeps the lat as the primary mover from the first inch to the last.
Set the scapula. then pull.
In that order. every time.
Training back starts from the shoulders. not the hands.

Save this. apply these two steps on your next row session.

Most people do dumbbell curls and lose tension at the top.
CBum never does.

The problem with standard dumbbell curls is simple. at the top of the movement when the dumbbell is directly above the elbow gravity stops pulling it down. the bicep gets a moment of rest at the exact point where it should be under maximum contraction.

The fix is one small adjustment.
Instead of curling straight up CBum angles the dumbbell slightly outward at the top of every rep. this keeps the line of resistance against the bicep throughout the complete range. the tension never drops. the muscle works from the bottom of the rep all the way to the top without a single moment of rest.
Constant tension means more time under load. more time under load means more mechanical tension. more mechanical tension means more growth.

The weight does not change. the path changes. and the stimulus is completely different.
Apply this on your next curl. angle the dumbbell slightly outward at the top. feel the difference immediately.
Save this.

Less noise. more results.

Rice or potatoes. most people pick one and never think about it again.

Both work. but they behave very differently in your body and the timing of each one changes your training output and your satiety throughout the day.
Rice digests faster. it enters the bloodstream quickly and gives you predictable energy when you need it most. this is why it works better around your training window.

Potatoes digest slower. they are more filling and provide higher volume for the same calories. this makes them better for meals further from training when satiety matters more than speed.
The practical rule: rice closer to training. potatoes further away.

Same calories. smarter timing. better performance.
Save this. adjust your next meal accordingly.

Most people do hammer curls and feel their forearms.
Hany Rambod fixes Jesse James West in this clip and shows exactly why.

The hammer curl targets the brachialis. not the bicep. the brachialis sits underneath the bicep and pushes it up, creating the thickness and peak most people chase for years without ever developing.

Watch what Hany corrects.
The path of the curl. most people swing the weight forward using momentum. the brachialis is barely involved. Hany keeps the elbow fixed and the movement strict. the dumbbell travels in a tight controlled arc with the brachialis doing all the work.

The wrist position. neutral grip maintained throughout the complete range. rotating the wrist at any point shifts the load away from the brachialis. the hammer position is not just a starting point. it is held from bottom to top on every rep.
The tempo. slow up. controlled down. no momentum. no swinging.

One small fix. completely different muscle doing the work.
Save this. apply these corrections on your next arm session.

Less noise. more results.

Most people train shoulders until something breaks.
Then they spend months in physio wondering what went wrong.

The shoulder joint is one of the most mobile joints in the body. that mobility comes at a cost. stability. the rotator cuff, the scapular stabilisers and the surrounding musculature must be strong enough to support every pressing, pulling and overhead movement you perform.
When they are not — the joint compensates. impingement develops. tendons get compressed. pain follows.

The four most common causes: too much pressing without enough pulling work to balance. poor scapular control during overhead movements. a neglected rotator cuff that was never trained directly. and ego loading before the joint is ready to handle the weight.
The fix is simple. three movements added to your weekly training.

Band external rotation twice per week. face pulls twice per week. wall slides three times per week.
And one rule that overrides everything else. never train through joint pain. discomfort in the muscle is feedback. pain in the joint is a warning. respect the difference.

The shoulder does not break suddenly.
It breaks gradually through months of ignored warnings.

Save this. add these three movements before something forces you to.
Less noise. more results.

Most people train the shoulder muscle.

CBum trains the movement pattern that makes the shoulder work correctly.
Shoulder upward rotation is one of the most overlooked variables in upper body training. it is not a muscle. it is a movement.

specifically the rotation of the scapula that happens every time you raise your arm overhead or press a weight above your head.
When the scapula rotates correctly the shoulder joint has full mobility. the rotator cuff stays in a safe position. the load is distributed correctly across the joint. impingement risk drops to almost zero.
When the scapula does not rotate correctly the shoulder compensates. other muscles take over. the joint is forced into positions it was not designed for under load. this is where chronic shoulder pain comes from. not from training too hard. from training with a movement pattern that was never right to begin with.

Four things proper scapular upward rotation gives you.
Proper overhead mobility. the ability to press and raise overhead without restriction or compensation.
Scapular stability. a stable base for every upper body movement. pressing, pulling and raising all start from the scapula.
Reduced impingement risk. the rotator cuff tendons have the space they need. no pinching. no inflammation over time.

Long term joint health.
shoulders that work correctly for decades instead of breaking down by the time you are forty.
Train the movement. not just the muscle.

Save this. check your scapular rotation before your next shoulder session.

Less noise. more results.

Most people stop when it gets hard.
Mike Mentzer stopped when the muscle had nothing left.
Then kept going.
This is what coaching past failure looks like. not stopping when it burns. not stopping when it gets uncomfortable. stopping when the muscle has been taken beyond its capacity and has nothing left to give.

Watch Mentzer coaching in this clip. the athlete reaches concentric failure — the point where another full rep is physically impossible. Mentzer does not let him rack the weight. forced reps. partials. negatives. every last unit of stimulus extracted from the set before stopping.
The research is consistent. the hardest reps — the ones closest to and beyond failure — produce the majority of the hypertrophic stimulus in any given set. everything before them is preparation.

Mentzer understood this before most of the research existed.

One set. coached past failure. that is enough.
Save this. take your next set further than you have ever gone.

Still training without seeing results? The fix is at minimalfitx.com 🔗 Link in bio

Behind-the-head lat pulldowns have a reputation for causing shoulder injuries.

And for most people — that reputation is earned.
But Charles Glass — one of the most respected coaches in bodybuilding history — shows exactly why the problem isn’t the exercise. It’s the execution.

The key: pull your chest up and drive your elbows down. Keep tension through the back throughout the entire
movement.

Never let your neck absorb the load.
Done wrong — it destroys your shoulders.
Done right — it builds serious lat width and upper back detail.

Most people skip the technique and go straight for the weight.
That’s where injuries come from.

Less noise. More results.
