Thanks so much to everyone who came out to see Gilgamesh Fragments work-in-progress at @fu_ture.space NYC, and to everyone who helped us along the way, assyriologists, translators, puppeteers, musicians, our friends, and of course the @jimhensonfoundation . It was a blast to go so deep into a work. We learned so much and cant wait to keep developing it further in the years to come. by @minivansoundsystem

Atrahasis (or Utnapishtim/Ziusudra) is the primordial Noah, lifted down through Abrahamia in the story of the Great Deluge ("Amaru" in Sumerian) that flooded all the earth.

Gilgamesh becomes obsessed with death after losing his best friend and lover, the hairy wild man Enkidu, and goes in search of Utnapishtim, the only immortal human, bringing back his ancient tale to Uruk. Gilgamesh is called "He Who Saw The Deep", and this story-within-a-story is among the deepest of those seen depths, and was also one of the very earliest recovered pieces of the Epic.

When wunderkund Assyriologist George Smith first translated the Flood Tablet in 1872 after it had been lost for 3500 years, he was so shocked to find Noah's Ark (almost verbatim doves and all) that he is reported to have stripped off his clothes and leapt around the British Museum naked screaming for joy, convinced that he had just found definitive evidence for the historicity of Christianity - although the opposite may in fact have been true.

There are so many more delicious pieces here: a god loud-talking to a reed fence to avoid breaking an oath of silence, seven days of stale-molding bread used to mark time...but we'll save that for later as the project develops.

In 2024 @lemondoarts gave me my first opportunity to develop Minivan into an evening length show. It allowed me to believe that Minivan could be something big, dark, weird, sexual, and undefinable, and that gift of space and time prompted huge technical and artistic shifts that are still unfolding. Two years later, the show has transformed SO much - into a duo performance that synthesizes what I’d previously siloed in my creative life - collaboration, teaching, songwriting, togetherness, surrealism, pretty spinning lights. It’s deeply meaningful to me to bring this show back here and to share it with Baltimore, the greatest city in North America, not least because of its impossibly high standard of artmaking, which also always makes me nervous to perform in Baltimore. two shows FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS

Minivan Triple Double Takeover Tour FRIDAY IN BALTIMORE two nights at @lemondoarts featuring @amyreid_music and @s.dotmusic - three residencies in three cities - my fantasy tour - why should you come? - extremely hard to say. Nothing I write can explain to you what this show is or why it makes you weep psychedelic giggles. That is the purpose of this tour- the only way for people to know what Minivan is is to come be a part of it. Now you have two chances in Baltimore to do the right thing. Really hard to overstate the importance of you being there. Only if you like my sexy body, truthfully. What should you tell your friends? That you are willing to take a leap of faith based on “Rare Card” being the greatest song of 2026 and my sexy body. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
