One year almost to the day later, I can finally tell you all that I’m the newest addition to the incredible Cyberpunk 2077 universe…as SONGBIRD. 🦾

This is the freakin honor of a lifetime!! This is my first major role voicing a character after years & years of working in the commercial world, & all I can say is…HOWWW did I land such an insanely cool part alongside my actual heroes Keanu Reeves & Idris Elba??!

The story of me landing & accepting this role is mind-boggling & kinda hilarious, but I’ll share it another day. For now, I’m gonna watch the trailer for the 293898th time & wait for Sept. 26th when I can experience Phantom Liberty with the rest of the world.

THANK YOU @cdpred, director @pierceotoole & @cyberpunkgame creative team, @sideglobal & my badass agents @juliegudz & @cassiegelfand at @ddoartists for this great adventure. We started with quiet empty rooms, masks, a mic & zoom.. & now we’re finally here!

FYI to all the diehard Cyberpunk fans- I’m not a gamer, but this might be the beginning of a very fun new chapter for me. Love ya chooms ;)

Xoxo, Songbird 🪶

Witnessing the effect that ASHIMA has on kids has been by far one of the most fulfilling and astounding parts of this journey. When Kenji first set out to make this film, he aimed to share the story of someone everyone, especially kids, could look up too.

TBH we didn’t know if younger humans would like the meditative quieter parts of the film, or sitting for 86 minutes straight, or reading subtitles. But boy were we very very wrong (grown ups being wrong, that’s new!).

From Hawaii to Africa to Nashville and San Francisco, we’ve had the chance to see up close how attentive and inspired kids are by Ashima’s quiet determination and her relatability in her fears and frustrations.

Seeing kids audibly cheer her on and then line up for our q&a’s and even grab a selfie and hug when they’re lucky enough to have awesome Ashima there irl… well it’s all enough to bring a tear to exhausted filmmakers’ eyes.

Thank you @sffilm Education, @nashfilmfest Education Film Screenings, @festivalfilmaventurereunion, @hiffhawaii ʻŌpio Fest & HIFF Education, & @parkcityfilm for connecting ASHIMA with some of our most important audiences.

We are just over a week out from our @Kickstarter campaign coming to close. Back us and you’ll help us get ASHIMA in front of more young folks and inspire the kid in all of us. We’re reaching the final act, this is where heroes come through clutch! 🦸🏻‍♂️ Link is in bio! by @minjeezy

A peek behind the curtain. Making the ASHIMA doc took 12 long years. TWELVE. YEARS. It was tedious, maddening, bewildering, and discouraging at so many turns. But much more than that, it was full of collabs and new friends for life, intense creative work sessions with hiking breaks to regroup, human ingenuity, soul searching, mentorship from legends in the field, and more than one major breakthrough. All of it mattered. All of it made its way into the heart of our film. We’re thankful for every person and lesson along the way! 🎥

This documentary that took the filmmakers over 10 years and tons of personal credit card debt to make on the then 13-year-old climbing prodigy ASHIMA is one of the best things I’ve ever watched. Support indie documentary making and young Asian girl prodigies in sports! by @minjeezy
