Managed to finish a bit more of my reading pile whilst I’ve been on the old sinusitis lockdown. I thought the only crossover between these two books would be the threat of the people in power being absolute maniacs and thinking of no one but themselves. That is very much there in both books. Though I will always have a soft spot for the mayor in Jaws. Those outfits were sensational, even though he was an absolutely selfish rotter. However, the other crossover was that Sarah the writer of careless people was attacked by a shark when she was younger and nearly died from it. I will hasten to add though she’s lucky to have got away from Meta with her life. The amount of times when I was reading it that I was like what the f*ck?! in absolutely no surprise to me as well as being absolutely awful the Leaders at Meta are as boring as you would imagine them to be. Finally, I will say that despite Jaws being a real page turner I still prefer the film. I don’t know if that’s ever been the case with anything else I’ve ever read. There’s just something about the movie though from the moment it starts you feel tense and hot. I’ve seen it so many times and it’s the same every time. I think I’m gonna have to go and rewatch it as it’s been awhile since I’ve seen it 🦈 by @mink_deville

Hey lovelies my bike was taken from the front of North Street TK Maxx at about 7:20pm today. It’s a volt bike. I have the unique electric key for it. I mustn’t have turned off the power when I went in the shop, but as soon as the idles it will stop and it can’t be turned back on. This is a picture of it, but she now has a blue basket. Finally, picked this up from my local library and just finished it yesterday. I feel like it’s quite a wild time to have gone in deep especially after being arrested for writing certain words on a cardboard sign. ..I reckon George would have much to say on the current climate. I think what made my mind truly melt was reading the appendices at the end where he is discussing the new version of dictionary that is incoming. Where the party will be removing more words than ever so people won’t have a vocabulary for what they’re witnessing...It has made me more determined than ever to be loud and use my words because I was made big and gobby for a reason. Also as ever use public libraries because they truly are sanctuaries. ..When I took the book back yesterday, I was struck by how many different people were using the library. Obviously, people in having a read but also an elderly chap being shown how to use email by a librarian. People accessing the hygiene products store. A lady and her kids making the most of the air con and using the toys. Some folks doing a jigsaw together on one of the tables. Young people doing their homework and an older lady having a snooze in a chair with a newspaper. I will never not feel absolute gratitude ❤️ by @mink_deville

Happy whole 19 to my darling niece, Savannah. I know it’s a cliche but it does only feel like yesterday when I took the call to hear you had arrived with us earth side. It makes me well up thinking about you as that tiny little bean and now here you are today such a wonderful human being full of creativity and kindness. Thanks to some gigi and good vibes we managed to get last minute tickets to see Lily perform West End Girl and it was as joyous as expected ☺️ ..Despite it being a hot one in London Town I managed to get the breeze on the tube make out like I was in a 90s music video...Then the support was live karaoke to Lily’s back catalogue. Belting out F*ck You with 20,000 Huns was extremely good for the soul...Then Lil sang her heart out to the whole of West End Girl and it ruddy fabulous. There’s something truly exquisite about a woman who’s been done dirty when she gets back in her power. You cannot keep a bad bitch down for long. On Thursday, I had the very great pleasure of seeing my dear nephew, John go to prom in fabulous fashion 😊 being an aunt is one of the greatest honours of my life. Being able to have a ringside seat to see extraordinary humans that I love bloom is an absolute privilege. I’m so proud of John because he’s retained his unique spirit and belief in what is possible. Secondary school often knock this out of us even if only temporarily but John remains ardently himself and what a wonderful self he is. Height wise though he has continued to shoot up so now I’m very much little aunt Rehanon 😄 go burn bright darling boy I’m so excited for all you have ahead of you. I finally got to see Harry Styles last night and it was absolutely ruddy glorious. Shania was also supporting so I got to sing man I feel like a woman with 90,000 Huns 😄..A couple of years ago on his last tour I was in London and I could see everybody all dressed up in glitter and sequins heading to the show. Everyone looks so joyous and I thought that truly is a bit of me...I have always adored pure power pop and I really love a good old show. Last night with both of these things but all seeing all the fans say happy to see him and each other it really filled my cup up. There were folks young and old there for their first concert and others who clearly gone to as many as they can...I will honestly never tire of being in a gig whether it be huge or tiny dancing and singing with other people and communing happily 🪩💃🏻🍉🎶 by @mink_deville

On Saturday night, I got to see El único Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio aka Bad Bunny and it was truly a religious experience 🙌🏼🎺🥁💃🏻🪩🇵🇷🐰.To cut a long story short I had really wanted to go and see him and I was still kicking myself for not flying to Puerto Rico for the residency. Anyway, I was at a lovely friends’ wedding on Friday and by chance they were playing Bad Bunny and I spoke to another friend and was like oh I need to check the concert dates. I honestly thought they were much later in the summer..Anyway the day and spritzes rolled on happily. Then on Saturday I was on the beach just chilling. I went in for a swim and then came back out and was like oh I need to check the date. Of course it was this Saturday and Sunday. It was sold out, but I managed to get a ticket on Twickets 🙏🏻..By this time it was coming up 5 o’clock and he was going to be on stage just before eight. So I raced up to London and the universe have my back because when I got to the tube to take it to 7 sisters, I got the last one before all the delays began. Gracias adiós 🤲🏼..I got to my seat just as he came on stage and the crowd was going bananas. They did not let up the entire night and neither did he. Latin American music has such a huge hold on my heart thanks to my central and South America Odyssey. I love that part of the world and it’s people and culture so much. I swear I was a Latina in a former life 💃🏻.The performance of him and the band and all the dancers was amazing and I couldn’t stop crying seeing all the Latin folks singing and hugging each other and just looking so joyful 🥹.I swear, Benito is a really old soul. When he came out and just was saying not to worry about the past. Don’t get stuck there the present is the only place you can live truly and make the future you want. Then he said thank you to everyone for loving his culture and its music as much as he does. That night he said he knew for sure we were all Puerto Rican 🫶🏼.Having lived in Cali to see him celebrate legends such as Hector Lavoe and Willie Colón alongside the most spicy reggaeton just fills me with joy 🤩 … continues in comments… by @mink_deville

I didn’t get round to do doing my birthday post proper last week because I got gifted a dose of the lurgy. You can’t keep a bad bitch down for long though and I’m feeling fantastic again 🙌🏼..A week into version 4.6 and I’m very pleased with the early feedback I’m receiving. Some things never change of course, drinking in the park and wearing copious amounts of leopard. It truly is the case the older you get the less of a shit you give and it’s so freeing. I thought I didn’t give a fig in my 30s but my gosh the 40s are next level 🥳..Forty thrive wound to a close with more new experiences. I took a circus skills class and learned how to flip upside down on silks. I also found out what it’s like to be lobbed in the back of a riot van protesting a genocide. Like I said before, I was nervous to get arrested. You always nervous of anything you do for the first time, but things often end up being oddly much more mundane than we first thought. Though of course I would prefer if the government and everybody involved would sort their arse out but until then, I’m more than happy to be taken up space. The old adage is that the older we get the more conservative and that is absolute hog wash. I feel more radical than ever. My life experience has taught me that despite what we me say see in the media and socials more people care about each other than not. I know we will win in the end...I had such a lovely week celebrating there was delicious food, cocktails, dancing, endless laughter, live music, really good chat, rollercoasters, lovely presents most importantly so many dear hearts that make this little life of mine so ruddy joyous...The gratitude I have for everyone who goes out of their way to help me romanticise my life is infinite. As for the coming year more of the same shenanigans and my birthday wish of course is a #freepalesti̇ne. I love you all so much ❤️ by @mink_deville

Happy Father’s Day to the Mac Daddy. As my birthday runs so close to Father’s Day, we can comfortably say you’ve been in the fatherhood game for 46 years. So no wonder you needed a new hip this year. Four kids and nine grandchildren will do that to you!..I think one of the things I’m so grateful for over the years is the realisation we’ve all been able to grow up to be so very different. Our family tree truly is mixed nuts and I don’t think you would have it any other way 😄..I could go on for pages in what you have and what you continue to help us out with, but even more importantly give us the belief ourselves to do the damn thing. ..There’s no point wishing you a nice sit down because as well evidenced both of you and the mothership are active resters. So I wish you instead hours of happy pottering and lots of love xxx by @mink_deville
