Superbonder is a product applied at the end of a lash extension appointment to assist with the curing of cyanoacrylate-based lash adhesive. Cyanoacrylate adhesive cures through a process called polymerisation, which is initiated by moisture in the surrounding environment. During this process, the adhesive molecules bond together to form the solid polymer that creates the extension-to-natural-lash bond.

After the extensions have been applied, a small amount of uncured adhesive can remain within the bond. Superbonder helps accelerate the final stages of polymerisation, allowing the adhesive to cure more completely and reducing the amount of residual adhesive that can release vapours after the appointment. This can help minimise the irritation associated with adhesive fumes.

Superbonder can also increase the flexibility of the cured adhesive bond. This is beneficial because natural lashes are constantly moving and flexing, and a more flexible bond can accommodate this movement without becoming unnecessarily brittle.

The product is therefore used as a final step to assist the curing process, reduce residual fumes and improve the flexibility of the adhesive bond.

And THIS is exactly why I never use the same lash map on every client.

For this client, I chose an Open-Eye mapping technique, specifically to complement her smaller eye shape and create greater visual openness.

This was not a random map choice, and it certainly wasn’t based on simply following a standard lash chart.

Before deciding on a set, I consider the client’s eye shape, eye size, proportions, eyelid structure, natural lash direction, facial features and the overall effect they want to achieve.

In this case, my objective was to create the appearance of a more open, lifted and awake eye while still keeping the result harmonious with her natural features.

And the transformation speaks for itself.

When she opens her eyes, you can see how much more open and defined they appear. Her eye colour is brought forward, the centre of the face looks brighter and the entire expression is enhanced.

This is exactly why I believe Eye and Facial Analysis is such an important part of Lash Artistry.

Lash extensions should not simply add length and density.

They can be used strategically to enhance, balance, define, elongate and visually lift the natural features of the face.

I have spent a significant amount of time training, studying and refining my approach to lash mapping because I want to understand the reasoning behind every decision I make, not simply replicate a map because it is popular.

The curl, length, diameter, density, direction and placement all contribute to the final result.

And above all of that is the client’s natural lash and individual anatomy.

A mapping technique that creates a beautiful result on one client may be completely unsuitable for another.

That is why I will never believe in one-size-fits-all lash extensions.

Your eyes are individual. Your facial proportions are individual. Your natural lashes are individual.

Your lash set should be too.

I am not simply applying extensions. I am analysing the features in front of me and designing a set specifically to enhance them.
