In the first of our state fair stories series, @olmstedmn4h'er Lauren talks about how she made the largest chicken to ever grace the state fairgrounds (or so we assume, @Minnesota State Fair any way to verify?!).

Visit z.umn.edu/sfstorychicken for the full story. A Minnesota 4-H'er is shown with her giant crocheted chicken in the 4-H Building at the Minnesota State Fair. She is also holding 3 smaller baby chickens. by @minnesota4h

Did you know?

@mn4hstateartsin is over 50 years old!

Youth grades 9+ to explore one of four majors: technical theater, band, performing or costuming and ultimately put together a show performed 3-4 times/day during the Minnesota State Fair.

It's (in our humble opinion) one of the best shows you'll see at our great state fair. We still have the 2026 songs in our head!

Check it out and make plans to participate next year at z.umn.edu/statearts-in.

Renae shares why she is thankful for Minnesota 4-H Volunteer Lyn. I’m thankful for Lyn because she has been such a huge part of my llama journey. She has taught me so much about llamas and showing, and she has always been willing to take me to shows and help me learn along the way. But beyond just being my llama mentor, she has become someone who treats me like one of her own kids. She has supported me, encouraged me, and been there for me through so much, and I’m really grateful for everything she has done for me and the relationship we’ve built through llamas and 4-H. by @minnesota4h

For over 80 years, the 4-H Building has been the heart of Minnesota 4-H at the Minnesota State Fair. That building hasn’t kept pace with the evolving needs of our youth - who are engaging in new, exciting and complex activities and projects.

We’re embarking on a campaign to renovate the building so it’s #beyondready for today’s youth and future generations - from new learning zones in the building so youth can take their learning back to their communities in new ways to overnight summer camps. Learn more about the renovation and how you can donate to make it happen at z.umn.edu/Futureof4H. #national4hweek🍀 by @minnesota4h

The lessons do not stop at the barn door.

Through livestock projects, Minnesota 4-H’ers build responsibility, confidence, care for animals and connections with one another. These hands-on experiences help young people learn by doing while creating memories that can stay with them for years.

We’re proud to support Minnesota 4-H and the young people who bring this work to life at the Minnesota State Fair and in communities across the state.
