Chris Nayquonabe (@nayquonabe) is of the Bitter Water Clan, born for the Folded Arms Clan, her maternal grandfather is of the Ute Salt People Clan, and her paternal grandfather is of the Salt Clan. This is what makes her a Diné Woman. She is also an artist, an educator, and an Indigenous Youth Mentor.

Her Nizhoni design means beautiful in Navajo. Nizhoni also holds a personal meaning because it's the middle name of Chris' daughter. Navajo people believe in "walking in beauty" – which refers to internal beauty, being a good person, and respecting the world around you.

In honor of Chris' collection, Minnetonka will be donating to the Anishinaabe Leaders of Tomorrow within the Onamia Public School. by @minnetonka

Continuing our celebration of Indigenous People's Day, we're highlighting Hannah Standstrong. Hannah is a Duluth-ased Ojibwe artist and citizen of White Earth Nation who specializes in Northern Woodlands beadwork and moccasin making.

Her Minookami design features a pinecone, which represents the strength and beauty of the Ojibwe community. Minookamii translates to “sure-footed” in Ojibwemowin, the language of the Anishinaabe people.

In honor of the Minookamii collection, and our ongoing commitment to the Native American community, Minnetonka will be donating to a Native American non-profit selected by Hannah. by @minnetonka

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we’re honoring Lucie Skjefte (@luvequay), the Red Lake Nation Anishinaabe artist behind the Thunderbird “Animikii” collection. ❤️

Lucie redesigned the Thunderbird beading with a design that pays homage to her Anishinaabe heritage and her son, Animikii, whose name means “Thunderbird” in Ojibwemowin.

Through her artistry, a longtime Minnetonka style carries new meaning, rooted in her story, heritage, and creativity. For every pair of Lucie's styles purchased, Minnetonka donates to a Native American organization of her choice. by @minnetonka
