Hon’ble Union Ministers of State for Cooperation, Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar and Shri Murlidhar Mohol, co-chaired a meeting to review the current status of implementation of the National Cooperation Policy, 2025, and deliberate on key priorities for strengthening India’s cooperative sector. Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar attended the meeting in person, while Shri Murlidhar Mohol joined virtually and shared his valuable suggestions on the key agenda items. The discussions focused on empowering cooperative federations and developing a vibrant ecosystem for self-reliant cooperative enterprises; advancing White Revolution 2.0 through dairy cooperatives, digitalisation and decentralised biogas production; and strengthening cooperative-led branding, marketing and exports through GI tags, IPRs, ODOP and the ‘Bharat’ umbrella brand. The meeting also deliberated on strengthening the three-tier cooperative credit structure comprising PACS, District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) and State Cooperative Banks (StCBs); expanding cooperative banks’ branches, financial products and access to government business; enhancing cybersecurity and digital capabilities; and strengthening urban cooperative banks through the NUCFDC. Other key priorities included revitalising weak cooperative societies, facilitating bankable projects with support from NCDC & NABARD, expanding cooperative activities across agriculture, dairy, handloom, handicrafts & minor forest produce, and encouraging diversification into emerging sectors such as transport, biogas and app-based services to enhance members’ incomes. The meeting reaffirmed the Ministry of Cooperation’s commitment to accelerating the effective implementation of the National Cooperation Policy 2025, strengthening institutional capacity, promoting inclusive growth and building a resilient, self-reliant and vibrant cooperative ecosystem in line with the vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi.” The meeting was attended by Dr. @AshishBhutani14, Secretary; Shri Raman Kr, Jt. Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, released the inaugural issue of ‘Sahkar Pragya’, the annual Hindi magazine of the National Council for Cooperative Training (NCCT), on 15 October 2026 at Atal Akshaya Urja Bhawan, New Delhi. ‘Sahkar Pragya’ seeks to provide a platform for sharing knowledge, experiences, best practices and innovative ideas across the cooperative sector. The publication aims to strengthen cooperative education and training, encourage knowledge-driven institutional development, showcase emerging opportunities and promote innovative approaches to building a more resilient and inclusive cooperative ecosystem, in alignment with the vision of ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’. The occasion was graced by Shri Siddharth Jain, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation; Shri Raman Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation; Dr. Meenesh C. The Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, held discussions with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (@METI_JPN) on 15 October 2026 at Atal Akshaya Urja Bhawan, New Delhi, to advance bilateral cooperation in promoting sustainability and circularity in the dairy sector, particularly through the expansion of Compressed Biogas (CBG) infrastructure via dairy cooperatives, under the MoU signed on 2 July 2026. The Indian side included Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation; Shri Pankaj Kumar Bansal, Additional Secretary; Shri Raman Kumar, Joint Secretary; Dr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman, National Dairy Development Board (@NDDB_Coop); and senior officials from the Ministry of Cooperation, DAHD and MEA. The Japanese delegation comprised Mr. Masayoshi Arai, Vice Minister for International Affairs, METI; Mr. Daisuke Asakura, Director, South West Asia Office; Mr. Masafumi Senda, Chief Representative, NEDO; Mr. Toyokazu Nagamune, Regional Representative, METI; and other senior Japanese officials. The discussions explored opportunities for technical and institutional collaboration, sustainable dairy practices, efficient utilisation of organic waste and clean energy generation, leveraging India’s extensive dairy cooperative network to advance circular economy solutions and create additional value for rural communities. Under the India–Japan cooperation framework, both sides envisaged the phased establishment of 1,000 Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants across the dairy cooperative sector. Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, chaired an inter-ministerial meeting on 15 October 2026 at Atal Akshaya Urja Bhawan, New Delhi, to review the progress and implementation roadmap of Bharat Sewa, India’s proposed cooperative-led home services platform. The meeting brought together officials from MSDE/NSDC, the Ministry of MSME (PM Vishwakarma), the Ministry of Labour & Employment (e-Shram) and ONDC to discuss convergence in technology, skill development and training, social security and market access, through a coordinated, whole-of-government approach. Bharat Sewa aims to empower service professionals such as plumbers, electricians, and domestic workers by placing them at the centre of the cooperative ecosystem as member-workers, enabling greater participation, ownership and access to opportunities. #BharatSewa #SahkarSeSamriddhi #EmpoweringCooperatives by @minofcooperatn
