We made a very long bench and a seating installation for the inauguration for “If All Time Is Eternally Present” in Venice, and it was amazing!!

Pier Luigi Nervi Foundation presents “If All Time Is Eternally Present”, an exhibition with Kandis Williams, Tai Shani, Meriem Bennani & Orian Barki, curated by Chiara Carrera and Marta Barina.

”GOD CHOSE YOU” (2024)

The installation encapsulates the profound isolation and tense anticipation that permeate a hospital’s waiting room. It conveys the emotional weight of standing on the precipice of the unknown, dreading the incumbent judgment of the flesh. The laser-etched quote “GOD CHOSE YOU” on the seats are the actual words said by a medical psychotherapist to Vittorio, an insensitive and empty offer of comfort disguising a lure into religion. The phrase speaks not only to the clinical detachment of medicine, but also to the attempt to provide solace or meaning through the framework of spirituality, suggesting that in the face of suffering, the language of the body might intersect with the language of faith.

The exhibition is an homage to the life-changing process of overcoming trauma, offering a moment to reflect and raise awareness on invisible disabilities while presenting an utterly intimate display of beauty and terror.

A fundraising initiative has been launched to support the scientific research department at Meyer Children’s Hospital in its vital work to combat and defeat oncological diseases. Link in @vittoriovaligi bio to donate to @fondazionemeyer.

Exploring Perspectives

Swedish Girls & Riccardo Raspa
18–21 April

Combining the conceptual and experimental work of Swedish Girls’ ‘Seats System’ and Riccardo Raspa’s ‘I Wish I Did’ abstract photography series, ‘Exploring Perspectives’ invites viewers to ponder fleeting moments and the passage of time. Quattro’s inauguration exhibition explores the dynamics between material and immaterial shapes, inspiring the flow of a space with elements such as light, interaction, and temperature.

‘Seats System’ (2019-) is a modular furniture series by Swedish Girls. Carefully calculated radiuses, profiles and degrees translates into a precise system produced by machines, assembled and welded by hand. With durable material choices and social focus ‘Seats System’ can be adapted to any space. Following the concept of Quattro, Swedish Girls presents four constellations, a new each day of the exhibition. Installations that sparks the user’s imagination and introduce a framework of possibilities.

‘I Wish I Did’ captures fleeting moments through abstract photography due to glitches, accidental exposures. Each image invites the viewer to contemplate the transient nature of memories and the slight of space. The series of four works is an immersive reminder of the moment, a testimony to the passage of time, a once perhaps unforgettable and yet gone. They encourage the viewer to delve into the boundless depths of their own reflections, a lost moment in time.
