Hey you. We just wrapped the shooting of “How to Peel The Sun”. A project that has been living in my head and heart for a long time. I wanted to talk about some of the elements in this film, because every little bit has such a vital connection to the core of the story.
To start of: This location. The Shed, as I like to call it in the script.

There was a woman that started building it. Something happened in her life, that made her leave it behind before she finished it.
Mind you I had already written this scene when this place happened to show up in my life. Magic.
In the story, the shed represents the beauty of simplicity, and the act of trusting in somethings potential.

We faced a lot of dust and creatures in the process of making this place into a set. A process i woulndt want to be without. What a Playground to get to decorate a piece of art like this.

With the Magic of @miguel.s.barros @gabtooze @marla.anh @vildelisabeth @x.arhaz.x we made it into a palace. Everything used to decorate this place is either left from the woman or taken from me and my beautiful friends. Every drawing and every item has their own little story and I am so lucky to be able to fuel my mind with such rich stories from just watching this scene back.

I think it’s so beautiful to know that what was once build by someone’s hands, gets to be cared for in a totally different setting in a different time. I am happy that the hours she must have spent on this, gets to be truly appreciated.

Here are some pages from my little journal because I’m slowly realizing that we are all the same in some ways and we should talk more about that. I notice a sense of freedom in sharing personal things that I can’t really explain.

Oh hey and also, you can still donate to my film! (Please) link in bio. by @miraccomedia

Hello you!
I’m making a little film! And like most little films, it needs a little love (and money).
This project has been growing out of a big, confusing, and beautiful period in my life, and it’s finally shaping into a short film that holds a lot of heart.

I need a little help bringing it to the screen. Donations mostly go toward the more boring but very necessary stuff: Transportation, locations, and generally feeding and caring for the people helping me bring it to life.

If you’d like to help support the project, I’d be endlessly grateful and give you great karma and love in return. Any contribution, no matter the size, goes a long way into making this project possible.
Even if you can’t donate, thank you for reading <3 (but I know you have at least 5 dollars, come on)
I hope you stick around for the journey regardless!

Thank you for being curious. Thank you for supporting independent filmmaking<3

Love, Sofia.
