She’s Alive!!! 🤸‍♂️ She made it to the other side! She sat in pre-op for 8 hours, surgery took 1 hour. The nurse said she was the happiest patient she ever had! 🤔 😂 She is overwhelmed with gratitude! This week went from celebrating Octoberfest, Celine Dion and an EPIC week in Paris to a broken neck in Germany. A plot twist I would very much like to return. Early Tuesday morning while getting ready to head to the airport, a fall in a poorly designed hotel bathroom changed everything. I suffered a severe concussion, fractures in my neck, and a ruptured disc between C4 and C5. Suddenly, my itinerary became hospital visits, conversations with surgeons, and figuring out what comes next. After consulting with my family and trusted advisors, I’ve decided to have the recommended surgery here in Germany before coming home. Surgery is scheduled for Monday and I am very confident in my medical team. Being far from home and facing all of this without health insurance has been overwhelming. I’m scared, but taking it one step at a time. Kasey, Kaity and Decker were there when I needed help most, and my family and friends have shown up with so much love and generosity. To everyone who has checked in, helped with logistics, or simply reminded me I don’t have to figure this out alone—thank you. I’m usually the “I’ve got it” friend. This week, I’m learning to let people have me. Still here. Still me. Just looking real ugly with a neck brace, a couple shiners, stitches and a very revised itinerary. Hopefully my kiddo and best friend will be joining me soon and this is a just a painful memory! Solo in SAV — and honestly, I’m getting pretty good at taking myself on dates. Between market research and getting to know the Savannah team, I managed 15k+ steps per day wandering historic streets, finding the prettiest little treasures, pool days under those iconic steeples, and yummy cocktails that deserved their own moment. New England, you were a terrible influence. Started classy at The Breakers in Newport, where I briefly considered marrying rich and summering by the sea. Then Boston happened. We ate, we drank, we walked approximately 700 miles, went to a Red Sox game at Fenway, and discovered that an Uber Black is not transportation—it’s a mobile nightclub if you believe in yourself. Then off to Salem, where we got witchy, had our cards read, wandered in the rain learning about questionable historical decisions, and confirmed that none of us would have survived the witch trials. There were cocktails. There was seafood. There were dance parties. There were late nights, bad decisions, excellent outfits, and enough inside jokes to make us completely insufferable for the foreseeable future. Newport → Boston → Salem. AUGUST RECAP: assignment understood! Lake days, golf days, live music, rodeos, fair nights, flower adventures, workouts, questionable bike decisions and my annual attempt at wake surfing — emphasis on attempt. I made core memories with my kid, plotted with my best friend, spent time with family and friends who feel like family, hard launched a new gig, played with a whole lot of flowers and said yes to as much summer as I possibly could. Somewhere between the golf swings, boat rides, bouquets and late nights, August reminded me that the good stuff really is this simple: people you love, places you love, and enough ridiculousness to make a good story. LinkedIn updated, let's make it Instagram Official! A new chapter, and one I’m incredibly excited about! I’m happy to share that I’ve joined Marmalade in a multi-store leadership and strategy role, supporting our Spokane, Brooklyn and Savannah locations. My career has taken me through sales, client relationships, team development, community leadership, and entrepreneurship—and this opportunity brings so many of those pieces together in a completely new way (with much better clothes). One of the things that makes this opportunity especially meaningful is the chance to work alongside an ownership team I genuinely admire and respect. They’ve built something incredibly special—pairing an iconic point of view on fashion with a genuine love for the communities they serve. Marmalade isn’t just about great style; it’s about relationships, experiences, and creating spaces where people feel connected. That’s something I’m incredibly proud to be part of. I’ll be focused on supporting our store teams, strengthening the client experience, developing clienteling and community strategies, and helping create consistency and connection across locations. I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a brand and team I believe in while bringing so many pieces of my own career together in a new way.
