I was driving a rental car back to Vegas from SoCal in the wee hours of the morning the day I took this photo. It was the second time I'd traveled there and back in less than a week as I was just there working the Academy Awards.

I had originally returned for an engagement shoot in Disneyland and had plans to spend Valentines Day weekend unwinding from my first awards season in LA. But I couldn't pass up the opportunity to cover the Nevada democratic caucus for the @sfchronicle. Got @guisados (my favorite) for dinner and I was on the road heading back to Vegas.

I think I got in around 1:30 a.m. I left to head to my first assignment, which is where I took this photo, at 9 a.m. I had three more assignments that day. I rewarded myself with @innout to eat while I edited. It was a good day. I'd do it again a hundred times over.

Anyways, this hasn't quite sunk in all the way for me yet. It definitely feels like this is happening to someone else. It's a tremendous honor I wasn't expecting to achieve until later in my career. Thank you @poyipics, @sfchronicle, @lisaiaboni @photofruge taken in Las Vegas, Nevada by @miranda_alam

A couple of weeks ago I made a trip out to Vegas during @ces for what wasn't even a full 48 hours. While I was there I photographed Steve Center, Chief Operating Officer at Kia America, for my first ever @nytimes assignment! Thank you Crista 😊 taken in Las Vegas, Nevada by @miranda_alam
