Piece III - Our Day
Daily Ghana Collection🇬🇭

There are memories we do not realise we are collecting while they are happening.

Who slept on the night before Our Day?

By the end of the term, school no longer felt like school. The classrooms that carried months of lessons, tests, punishments, laughter and whispered conversations suddenly became places of celebration. The ordinary school day was replaced with the sound of excitement, the smell of food, and children arriving with baskets carefully covered and balanced on their heads.

This was one of those moments I always looked forward to. Our Day.

Inside those baskets were more than just food and drinks.
They carried celebration.
They carried friendship.
They carried the joy of “We made it through another term.”

Our Day, the perfect end-of-term tradition in most Ghanaian schools. It was the day we came together to feast, share what we had brought, and celebrate the closing of another chapter. Food passed from one hand to another, drinks were shared among friends, and our teachers who had spent the term teaching, correcting, scolding and guiding us were remembered with gifts of appreciation. by @mirideezy
