Kalila Kingsford Smith is a Philly-based choreographer, performer, dance educator, Pilates instructor, and a certified Spiral Body Techniques® teacher. She has an MA in Dance from Temple University and a BFA in Dance and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Michigan. Much of her choreographic work is informed by her early dance training and performance career with Gwendolyn Bye Dance Center and Dancefusion. She has performed in works by Molly Shanahan, Dianne McIntyre, Paul Taylor, Pauline Koner, Mary Anthony, José Limón, and Donald McKayle, among others. She has produced and performed in a number of independent dance works in Philadelphia’s Fringe Festival. Kalila’s approach to dance is fundamentally healing and transformational. Her primary teaching practices include Spiral Body Techniques®, somatic improvisation, modern and contemporary dance techniques, jazz and musicality, historical and cultural dance analysis, choreography and creative process, and Pilates. In any class, these modes cross-pollinate to generate an informed and rigorous practice that moves people through various relationships to gravity, to musicality, to tension and to release. She is an adjunct faculty member at Drexel University, and she offers Spiral Body Techniques® and Pilates classes to the Philadelphia community. Come tangle with her!

Maddie Rabin is a dancer, musician, and performance artist based in West Philly and sometimes in Burlington, Vermont. Some years ago, she released her first album of original songs called “In the name of starting over” under the moniker Madeline Lee, which you can find all over the Internet on streaming services and Bandcamp, as well as on a burned CD if you ask her for one. It’s been many years since she’s been in a dance piece, most recently was her 2017 Fringe show, “Sprout! A full-length Not-a-ballet,” so she’s excited to get back on stage to dance and sing with her friends.

Leigh Huster (they/them) is a Philadelphia-based performance artist, choreographer, and multidisciplinary maker whose work explores ecology, grief, embodiment, and our relationships with the natural world. Their practice blends movement, participatory performance, ritual, and play. Their ongoing project Clapping for Nature uses collective movement and applause to explore attention, reciprocity, and connection with local ecologies. Leigh also develops site-responsive work rooted in Philadelphia’s waterways, landscapes, and environmental histories. Their current research includes eco-somatic performance and community-based practices, with an interest in using humor to approach ecological crisis and our complicated relationships with the more-than-human world. Leigh is a graduate of the Headlong Performance Institute and a Pennsylvania Master Naturalist.
