Making Sylus’ Birthday Outfit

I started working on this the same day promos for his birthday dropped! I visited 3 different thrift stores to give a new life to the clothes I purchased for this cosplay. I love thrifting when I can for cosplay, and I also learned so much during this project. I discovered pigmented wax, and I used those to color the leather jacket. I used four different colors and mixed some to make more unique colors for his jacket since they blended together in different parts.
Overall this cosplay took me 4 straight days! I was a featured cosplayer for an event and wanted to really bring my best for Sylus’ birthday! The things I do for Sylus lol

I chose the Apparition because if there’s anything I hear about Sylus it’s “why are you never real?!”

The amount of WORK that went into this dragon boy!! 👏
I worked on him for months not even sure if this cosplay would even happen due to the amount of issues. My paint wouldn’t cure, I broke both gauntlets with my wrist size, I had to hand sew the pants to fit, my KT tape wouldn’t stay, etc, etc.
I’m just so happy I could bring him to a con!! 😭

I got a few questions on what his tail is made out of, scroll to see the few WIP shots I took! It’s all faux alligator upholstery! The tail does move but it’s so big it’s sadly not as noticeable.

“My heart would never flutter for those who needlessly hurt others!” 💘

I was recently reminiscing when I previously accidentally surprised my friends when I said I’d cosplay Demon Slayer and showed up to an event as Sanemi. Sorry if you expected Mitsuri!
I still feel like the irascible Sanemi fits me more than Mitsuri because she’s just so sanguine and sweet!

However the best thing about cosplay is how it’s fun to do both! Plus I love being able to match my friends in a group!
