Initially I wanted to call these “My Mister Darcy” but we agreed to call them “Pride No Prejudice,” the intention being that the more we got to know each other’s stories, hurts, pains, aspirations, and dreams the more we wanted to uplift the others’ experiences.
I post this, in spite of our differences and changed expectations of each other, bc in a queer relationship, I learned how invaluable the freedom we have to exist as we wish in this country, is. My American experience gained immense value because I got to freely love this human.
I think in the ever changing atmosphere of our country, I saw, if only for a moment, the way love between two, changes people far and wide.
When we showed up with our abundant affection for each other, we received so much encouragement and adoration. And even behind closed doors, the effort to fight for and with each other, changed everything for me.
I learned, for maybe the first time, what it felt like to be willing to give up anything to see someone get the care and love they so desired and deserved. I found myself wanting to agree to immense responsibility, willing and eagerly. (if you know me, you probably get it)
Reconciling with my nature/nurture and world view a new way to think of loving others. Taking off the stigmas and dogmatic way of thinking and putting on fluidity and passion.
This Pride, I feel like the fighting-est fighter you’ve ever met, while last pride I was volunteering my admiration and energy. I may have less mental capacity to share this year, (or maybe just more unwilling to share without care) but I have far more free energy to spend fighting over any who dares debate the innate right to love who you love.
Queerness is very American, a tale as old as time, if you will.
Personally, I think we’re all a little fruity, and homophobia is super gay… and as your resident evil gay - come out come out wherever you are… or else 🤪😘 jk(maybe)
