THE BIGGEST ✨✨

This crown is for every queer kid who feels like they don’t have a place in the world: One day, you will be seen and celebrated for the color of your soul by people who you will be proud to call your chosen family

I am indebted to @bigxatlas @bigjahnelle and @camille.yennn for their mentorship and for gifting us the opportunity and platform to elevate and showcase our art every week

What an honor to have shared the stage with @zoethedelusionalho @marinagarconne @dickkayin @madamzapple @cici_that_walk @itsthesilva @lavagrrrl

None of this would have been possible without @courtney_fu @patrickn0 and especially @rip.richie 💗

@pr1ncesssaurora, sister you are the blueprint and I have some big shoes to fill 🩵

✨ Meet Miso Chic, an MIT PhD student and drag performer who combines creativity and technology to create unforgettable experiences on stage. MIT MAD’s Jess Osserman recently spoke with Miso about how her performance and research influence each other.

“In the entertainment world, there's an expertise in communication and getting ideas across,” Miso said. “In the science and academic world, there’s such a focus on the work itself… As a drag artist and a PhD student, I have an opportunity to bridge those worlds.”

With access to tools and technical expertise through MIT MAD Makerspaces, Miso has fabricated imaginative runway looks that have become her signature.

Miso also advocates for including people on the margins—those who fall outside the "normal distribution"—in data research.

“They see things about society that may be invisible to other people,” she said. “If you’re a fish in the ocean, you might not know what water is. Queer people often have unique insight into social systems because those systems don’t always align perfectly with their lived experiences.”
