Here’s an epic Sailor Zelda shot from @animedallascon! I’ve made several improvements (and repairs 😅) to this cosplay over the years… at some point I’d like to add rhinestones to the gold parts of the dress…
Have you ever reworked a project so much, that it didn’t retain any parts of the original?

Sienna Shaw’s Valkyrie armor, from Terrifier 2. In the movie she is making this cosplay, based on a character design that her comic artist father created for her, before he died. She wears is to a Halloween party, and at some point her friend praises her costume and says something like “now you ARE her”… to which Sienna denies and says that she’s NOTHING like this strong, confident character that her father drew, confessing she had a panic attack at school, etc. Sienna eventually finds her strength, and is a total badass by the end of the movie.
I’ll never forget how hard I related to that as a cosplayer, assuming the role of a character who embodies all the things I want to be.
Can you relate?

You know… Yuno 💕 This girl is like a walking heartbeat. She’s intense. It feels like forever since I cosplayed her. She was my first “comfort character” just before Himiko Toga. But anyway… throwback to an old favorite with a new shoot of her.
Have you ever seen The Future Diary?

I think it’s normal to forget that the whole point is to have fun. Life can do that.
Remember to let yourself experience that joy. ♡

Make the thing… become someone else for a little while… meet wonderful people, and collect ridiculous little memories.

I hope I never stop finding reasons to do that. ✨

Have you been watching Crystal Lake?

@miss.oolala and I payed homage to retro Jason in the Friday the 13th 8-bit game on the Nintendo Entertainment System...complete with the blue hockey mask!

One of me is more than most people can handle… BUT imagine having a miniature version on your shelf 🤣

Got 3D scanned at @ancientcitycon, and now I’m seriously considering turning one of these into an action figure.

Which one deserves to be immortalized in plastic? 👀

3… 2… 1…

✨ becomes merchandise ✨

This is apparently how action figures are born.

Please enjoy several minutes of me attempting to arrange my human form into collectible poses.

Somehow the one-legged pose was less difficult than gracefully getting onto the floor. 😂

I will be ordering a miniature of myself, for research purposes 🤓

Thanks @shrunk3d_jacksonville for enabling this extremely important use of technology. 🩸- The Emotional Support Himiko Toga 💕

It's October and spooky season is officially here! Here are some favorites from my Terrifier 2 shoot from last October with @miss.oolala as the Little Pale Girl!

Are you ready for Halloween? Are you watching horror movies every day?!

I'm so ready for Halloween, my favorite time of year, if you haven't figured that out yet!

I love when you have a session and then, a spooky bonus session happens! Here is @miss.oolala as a Vampiress in her coffin ⚰️ 🩸

To a lot of people, he was Mike McFarland—the actor, director, and so much more. To me, he was just “Miiiiiiichael.”

I’ve been struggling to write this for days, because writing it is the moment it becomes real. There are no words big enough for how grateful I am to have had him in my life.

I met Mike 21 years ago by accident while watching a friend’s booth at a convention. I didn’t know who he was. Eventually, he became someone incredibly important to me.

He was 13 years older than I was, absurdly talented and accomplished, yet one of the most humble people I’ve ever known. It wasn’t until years later, when we reconnected, that I fully understood how much he had valued me.

Mike loved Doc Martens, Sisters of Mercy, goth clubs, travel, unique food, and making people laugh. He sang and played guitar, had a beautiful voice, and was one of the funniest people I’ve ever known. He changed the trajectory of my life, too. He introduced me to media-related work, and that eventually led me to radio.

Before his prognosis, I dropped everything and drove from Lafayette to Grand Prairie because I wanted time with the version of him I knew, just in case. We ate gumbo, walked Irving Mall, and later sat on his couch watching one of his favorite movies. I cried and hugged him. He said, “We don’t even know what it is yet.” But it felt like I was saying goodbye to that version of him.

Shortly before Christmas, I got to bring him my gumbo one last time and celebrate his last Christmas with him.

There are so many things I’ll miss that no biography could hold: his laugh, the weird high-pitched sounds he made, the way he loved people with his whole heart, the tiny inside jokes, the ordinary moments that suddenly aren’t ordinary anymore.

Mike is in songs, food, old photos, Dallas streets, parts of my career, a pair of Doc Martens, a bowl of gumbo, and a Sisters of Mercy song coming on at exactly the wrong moment.

Or maybe the right one.

I hated what this illness did to him, and I’m relieved he isn’t suffering anymore. I still keep wishing for one more moment, even though I got to tell him everything I wanted to say.

Rest in peace, my sweet friend. I love you. I’ll miss you. by @miss.oolala
