Welcome to the world Umar Samodien. 🤲🏽❤️

Umar means “prospering, thriving, flourishing”. Umar ibn al-khattab was a companion and strong supporter of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) who became the second caliph of the Muslims. He is considered to be one of the great founders of the Muslim state. May Allah grant baby Umar to have the great quality’s of Umar ibn al-khattab. Ameen.

Motherhood these past 2 weeks has been so crazy but so wonderful. This is the best thing that has happened to me.

I had the most incredible labour and birthing experience thanks to my amazing support system.
1. My husband was perfect in every single way. We prepared by doing the @blossandbloom “teaching partners to be doulas” course which helped to prepare us for what to expect and techniques on how he can best support me through all the labour pains. This was the best thing we could have done to prepare - I highly recommend.
2. My sister Aisha was there through it all reminding me that I could do this, to breathe and to believe in myself. So honoured to have had her there to share this experience with me.
3. The best money I ever spent was on my phenomenal doula - Harriet Came aka the powerhouse behind @blossandbloom. I am forever grateful to you for holding space for me, supporting me, encouraging me and believing in me.

You really can’t do it alone and I am so grateful to have surrounded myself with the best support structure. ❤️

Alhamdulillah for a healthy and perfect, Masha’Allah, baby boy. Alhamdulillah for a safe labour experience and speedy recovery. The hardest part has been adjusting to motherhood but also the most rewarding. 🥹

I have been living in my love bubble and taking in all these precious (and tough) moments. If you have any questions about my birth or baby stuff you can leave them on this post. I do apologise in advance for not replying to any messages, calls or emails but I have no time. For now my whole world revolves around baby Umar 😍🥰❤️.

Welcome to the world Muhammad Zayd Samodien.

Muhammad named after our bellowed prophet SAW meaning praiseworthy. Zayd named after Zayd ibn Ḥāritha, the adopted son of the Prophet SAW meaning growth, abundance & one who makes progress. May Allah grant baby Muhammad Zayd to live up to the great qualities of his namesakes. Ameen.

Wow I can’t believe I am a mom of 2 under 2. Alhamdulilah. My heart is literally bursting with love ❤️.

This time labour and the birthing experience was completely different to the first time round but so beautiful, so perfectly imperfect and something I will cherish forever. Once again I am so grateful to have surrounded myself with an incredible support system/ team:

1. Thank you to my amazing gynecologist who ensured I had a successful birthing experience despite this baby being a whole 1kg bigger than the last. He did everything in his power to ensure a safe delivery, to grant me my wishes and to advise me the best he can. I will go into my birth story another time. Dr Martin Puzey - you are a true legend. 🏆
2. The nursing staff at Cape 2. Town Mediclinic were unreal. Sister Kaylin is an amazing midwife and I was so happy she was on duty at the time of my delivery.
3. My super husband who is a pro doula at this point. He was so calm, helped me in making the hard decisions and was there to hold my hand, remind me that I can do this and kept the positive affirmations flowing.
4. My sister who came in towards the end of my birth like a super sub 💣. She was there just as I started to push and I felt so exhausted like I wanted to give up but she held my hand, looked me in the eyes and said “we getting this baby out, you can do it!”. I honestly don’t think I would have made it through to the end without her.

Alhamdulillah for a healthy baby boy, for a safe labour experience and a speedy recovery. The hard part begins now but this time round I’m so excited for the challenges and looking forward to soaking in all these precious moments 😍.

I am fully in my mom era and I am not mad about it. ❤️

On the 30th of November 2019 I married my best friend. I planned my dream wedding to my dream guy. It was an absolutely magical day. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making it so special and for taking the time to share this special moment with us. May Allah grant us many many happy years together. Ameen. ❤️

The most incredible space to MOVE in. I am so proud and in awe of @jessmandel_tml & Lisa. You have come so far from the little studio space in Sea Point where I started my Pilates journey 6 years ago to now being owners of 3 world class Pilates studios. Loved celebrating this milestone with you two! There is honestly no place like TML 💖💝💘.
