Team FD BA proudly presents: Luus van Steenbergen @misschienluus Sacred Surface From the superficial to the sacred: a path of inner reflection, expressed through craft. This collection moves between the superficial and the sacred, shaped by my own journey toward religion. It draws from a world of appearance, glamour, and self-adornment—a world I once looked up to, yet came to experience as empty—and brings it into dialogue with values I have come to quietly admire: modesty, intention, and spirituality. Craft is approached as a ritual—a slow, deliberate process that becomes almost meditative. Through repetition, a quiet rhythm emerges, reflecting a sense of unity rooted in faith. What is repeated becomes a form of devotion. Handwork and delicate, hand-drawn prints leave visible traces—marks of care and presence. Nothing is without intention. Layering creates rhythm. Layers build, shift, and accumulate, forming a language of adornment that moves beyond the surface. It reflects both worlds at once: the ornamental surface and the spiritual depth beneath it, translating one into the other. Each stage exists as a moment in time, capturing transformation as it happens: immediate, intimate, unresolved.
