Jase,

For some unbeknownst reason, once you grew a foot or so into an obedient toddler, and became confident enough to vocalize your precocious thoughts-- It was sometime in the early 80s (or so I’ve been told), that YOU, my dear brother, began begging for a sibling.

To this day, I’m not totally sure that you got exactly what you were hoping for out of this equation, or if I even partially fulfilled your dreams in any way, shape or form with my whole “birthed into life” thing…

But I thank you for your part in making “me” happen, all the same.

I can only hope that you’ve never regretted wishing for a little sister after getting stuck with me.

I honestly don’t know, can’t see, and could never possibly fathom the concept of this world without you in it.

And yes, that’s partly because I’ve never had to, since you’ve always existed before me and were a page in my history long before the chapter that introduced me.

Sure.

But mainly, I refuse to accept a world without you in it because the spoiled rotten, selfish and bratty, babiest baby, token little sister in me simply just doesn’t want to.

So, just like you prayed for me to be born all those +40 some years ago, I’ll keep praying to never have to know of this life without you.

So, yea…

This is my favorite picture of me and my Aunt Gloria. I said I was going to bite her head…
She was dealt so much and never stopped smiling and if only I could be half as strong as her… and I still don’t have words to describe how much this one hurts.
Heartbroken on all ends.
Hers and ours. I’ll miss you forever. I know you and Grandma are looking down on us all…

Grandma Geraldine said “Haaaaaayyyyy!” and 😂 and her eyes were tired but ✨ and my heart went 🥹.
It may have taken a few clues and some relative face association, but she remembered my name after some prompts and if based on even just that moment alone--
Then I had one good G🎉damn 🎂.
I am 🙏🏾 and thankful for any second I had with my family this weekend. To everyone I had the chance to lay my eyes and 🫂 on, I promise I’ll be home to see you again soon.
So, suck down all this mushy fluffy-fluff stuff and 💜.
I am full. ☺️
