Clay from the ground, spelt husks from the field, and a wall that swallows sound. We introduce Terra-Pore by Abhishek Blesson @iamabhishekblesson and Manuel Alex Sahayam, built in the preform Pavilion @preformakustik. A project of the class Applied Acoustics @applied.acoustics at the University of Applied Arts Vienna @dieangewandte. Local materials, turned into sound-absorbing design elements. The rammed panels combine clay with “PreDinkel”, an innovative and sustainable acoustic material from PREFORM, consisting of spelt husks, a natural agricultural byproduct, and an eco-friendly binder. The vertical blind you grew up with, now absorbing sound. We introduce ACOUSTIC STRIPES by Création Baumann @creationbaumann, Design Object No 10. The classic vertical blind, reinvented in sound-absorbing fibre. The in-house development ACOUSTIC STRIPES by Création Baumann combines flexible room partitioning, control of room acoustics, and privacy and glare protection in a new interpretation of the classic vertical blind, in the room or at the window. Opened or closed, quickly and continuously, the stripes divide a space for the moment: for focused work or creative exchange. The OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified stripes are produced in Germany, from the fibre to the cut stripe, and made to measure in Switzerland. Look at it as long as you like. It will not dazzle you. We introduce the AQfelt OVALL BALL by AQ Form @aqform, Design Object No 09. Three opal glass globes beneath a slightly bent felt panel. Layered glass and efficient light sources light the spherical shades evenly and give a light that is pleasant for the eyes. The AQfelt OVALL BALL does not dazzle, not even those who cannot stop looking at it and at the delicate, slightly bent felt panel that floats above its three globes. The luminaire belongs to AQfelt, AQForm’s family of lights with felt panels. The panel, in ash or graphite, sits on a black structure; colour temperature, output and control are chosen to suit the room. Vienna has always decorated its ceilings. Now the ornament listens, too. We are proud to present OrnaCorner by Pang Jun Wei @toomanyweis, Yichi Zheng and Xueting Liu @liu_xuetingting, built in the Rockfon Pavilion @rockfon_official. A project of the class Applied Acoustics @applied.acoustics at the University of Applied Arts Vienna @dieangewandte. Ornaments inspired by the Vienna Secession become functional architectural elements. Pang Jun Wei, Yichi Zheng, and Xueting Liu translate decorative elements into an acoustic system that connects the ceiling, corner, and floor using vertically arranged cornices and ceiling rosettes. Their varying thicknesses enhance sound absorption, while their geometric relief scatters reflections. Light and sound, woven into one object. We are proud to present ACOUSTIC\LIGHT No. 1 by Heike Stuckstedde of ATARA @atara_lichtdesign, Vienna, with Lavisio @lavisio.at, Design Object No 08. What is the atmosphere like in a room when light and acoustics merge within a single object? ACOUSTIC\LIGHT No. 1 combines two atmospheric qualities: light and acoustics. Developed in collaboration with Lavisio, the object combines sound-absorbing fabric with finely integrated fibre optics. ACOUSTIC\LIGHT No. 1 changes as the day progresses. In natural daylight, the material appears calm yet striking, whilst the fibre optics run like delicate traces across the textile surface. As dusk falls, the light gains in intensity and presence, until the object transforms into an almost floating body of light.
