🚨WE NEED HELP!🚨 The Palmdale shelter has the HIGHEST EUTHANASIA RATE out of all of the LA shelters, with dogs only getting an average of 10-14 days from intake before being euthanized. It’s a devastating situation, and while all shelters need more help (there’s always too many dogs and not enough time/volunteers/networkers/etc.), Palmdale is drowning in dogs and most of them aren’t making it out alive… There is really only one person who is consistently networking the Palmdale animals, which is a Herculean-kind of impossible task, with occasional assistance from other networkers. This means that EVERY WEEK, dozens of new dogs never get posted, never get seen, never get advocated for, and never have even a CHANCE of leaving the shelter alive. YOU volunteering even just a few hours of your time can help give these dogs a chance of finding a home. YOU can help us shift the scales to give them a fighting chance. YOU can save real lives. Bella 🩷 #A5803636 Repost: @lancasteranimalslaco Almost eight years old. Surrendered with 3 other dogs for “moving”. Two of Bella’s siblings have found homes. We’re so happy for them. But Bella lies sadly on the floor of her kennel, waiting for her second chance, and now she’s sick. At 68 pounds, she’s a beautiful senior girl who should be recovering somewhere warm and comfortable, surrounded by people who love her. Instead, Bella is battling an upper respiratory infection, and it’s hard to recover in a kennel environment.. She needs a home where she can rest, and recover. Her previous owner reported that she was friendly with large dogs, small dogs, kids and cats. During playgroup, Bella exchanged soft, friendly greetings with several dogs, calmly explored the yard, and frequently sought affection from the handlers. She was social and tolerant but did not play. Calm dogs recommended. We’d love to see Bella curled up somewhere comfortable, getting spoiled, She’s almost 8 years old. Look at these precious puppers! Please do what you can to help them! Life only just begun and this should not be their ending. Luigi’s the tan male #A5800494 He was easily leashed in kennel but is not leash trained and would not walk despite coaxing. He was easily carried to the catch pen. He was initially wary of the runner, keeping a few feet away. He became more confident with light coaxing and trust building, approaching the runner with a loose body to solicit affection while the collar was clasped around his neck easily. He timidly entered the yard with a low head and low tail. He tolerated several dogs coming up to greet him. He was overwhelmed easily and would almost roll onto his back in appeasement. He was much more comfortable with the handlers, approaching them readily for affection and reassurance. As time passed, he gained confidence and began exploring the yard. He was much more comfortable approaching the other dogs. He appeared playful at times and would chase after dogs who were running around the yard. He clearly lacked confidence as he would only run after them briefly before retreating away when they turned to engage him in play. He did chase around the yard a few times with a female collie, displaying a gentle/dainty play style. He is young and needs confidence building and further socialization. He will also need leash training.
