Tears were streaming down my cheeks on the way up the escalator to security 🥲And in that moment, we waved goodbye to our old life 👋🏽A life in Denmark, close to our loved ones, with stable 9–5 jobs, steady income, routines, and an apartment in Copenhagen 🇩🇰We had quit our jobs, moved our addresses back to our parents, packed our things into boxes, and were now on a oneway ticket toward an unknown adventure in Australia with no end date 📆“Just a year, then we’ll see,” Jonas kept saying… and I thought, “wait and see,” hoping he’d be swept away by it all 🙏🏼At that time, we didn’t know how much the journey would change us — it turned out to be one of the most transformative experiences of our lives, slowly laying the foundation for what was to come 👀There was no doubt. No “what ifs” or worries if it was the right choice. We had good savings and planned to work along the way. So all we felt was excitement filling us up — but it was still hard to say goodbye ❤️‍🩹I remember my grandma, who thought it might be the last goodbye — but we had a dream 💭✨A dream of traveling and seeing the world 🌏Of living and working abroad, of becoming richer in adventures rather than in our bank account. Of experiences over things. Of a freer life in every sense of the word 🕊️Just a few days after arriving, Jonas was hooked ❤️‍🔥And from there, the dream grew ✨Fast forward 6 years, we’re still living the dream — the very dream that drove us to leave and grew stronger along the way 🌺We travel most of the year, filling our lives with experiences and memories for a lifetime. From backpacking in Australia to vanlife in Europe 🚐Along the way, we’ve built two digital businesses that can be run from anywhere and that fund our lifestyle 👩🏼‍💻🌴It wasn’t in our plans, but we even created a little family — without giving up on the dream 🧑‍🧑‍🧒🐶It’s taken blood, sweat, and tears, but it’s all been worth it 🥹 We’re endlessly grateful for the life we’ve built, the life we’re living, and everything still to come 🤍♒︎ Follow our adventure & get inspired to start your own ♒︎……………………………………………………….. by @missiontoimpact

We’ve been asked this a few times now, and honestly we understand the question 🙃Because from the outside, childhood is supposed to look like something fixed. Familiar surroundings, her own room, the same playground, play dates that repeat, friends from kindergarten, grand parents nearby, and predictable routines that feel safe 🫣💛But we look at her, and don’t see absence at all.We see a child who wakes up and isn’t looking for familiar walls to confirm she’s safe, because safety to her is us.We see a child who isn’t waiting for her parents to have time for her, because we’re already there 🧑‍🧑‍🧒Who isn’t being outsourced, squeezed into routines that don’t quite match her rhythm, or learning how to sit still in a life that was designed without her in mind.We see a child who doesn’t really seem to think life is supposed to stay one way, but grows up adaptable to change and welcoming to the unknown.Who makes friends in minutes without language getting in the way. Who will sit next to a kid twice her age, half her size, from different cultures, all backgrounds and races, and openly seek out to play 🥹🫶🏽We see her climb, watch, try, fall, get back up again without the layer of “be careful” coming before experience. Not because she isn’t protected, but because she isn’t constantly being told to fear what she hasn’t even met yet 🧡We think what people worry most about is what she “doesn’t have” by not living a fixed version of childhood.But from where we stand, we’re not sure she’s missing one. Guess we do… 👀 but one we renovated ourselves 🛠️✨But it wasn’t always in a motorhome 🫣For the first couple years of vanlife, we lived in a smaller van, less than 6 meters long, a lot less space, with a sink that turned into a shower, a chemical toilet, and with only one bed that was also our dining table and home office 🚐We loved every inch of that van. We learned how to live in a tiny space with our dog 🐶 Showers were limited, but somewhere in the road we found ourselves and although we didn’t have much, those days taught us how little we actually needed to be happy 🌞Now with a little one joining our adventures, we decided to renovate a motorhome instead that gave us more space and some extra convenience 🧡We’ll never forget our first home on wheels but the one we have now, is effortlessly starting to feel like our little beach HOME 🌊🐚We might have compromised, we might be missing some things about a van but a motorhome offers something we wouldn’t want to live without in this season of vanlife 🧑‍🧑‍🧒🐶We still can’t believe this is our life and the way we raise our girl! Back in the road where we belong 💭🌊🚌🧑‍🧑‍🧒🧡When we think back, we don’t remember how little or how much money we had but what we do remember is the trip, the travels, the adventure and the memories that came from the decision to go despite whatever our bank accounts said 💸It’s like that quote… money comes back, but your time, and your adventures, they won’t ✨So take the trip, spend the money, experience it all!Because in the end, money is not what matters most. Just some of our favourite moments from a week of vanlife on the west coast of Denmark 🌾🇩🇰🌊🌞We have talked about doing this road trip ever since we started vanlife the first time around but always postponed because it’s our home country and everywhere else seemed to call us more.We’re glad to finally be doing it!
